(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Liu Ruanping from Boai County in Jiaozuo used to suffer from rheumatoid arthritis for many years before practicing Falun Gong, and her illnesses made her an irritable person. After Ms. Liu began practicing and strictly followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, her illnesses gradually disappeared. She became open and kind, and had a very harmonious relationship with her neighbors.

Despite the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Liu persevered in her belief and kept talking to people about facts of the persecution. At the beginning of June 2006, agents from the Boai 610 Office

ransacked her home. Ms. Liu was not present at the time. However, Li Yinghao, Sun Lujun and other police officers kept returning to her home to find her. Ms. Liu had little choice but to leave home to avoid being arrested.

Ms. Liu’s husband chose to leave his home because of the continuous harassment from the police, and left their child alone with the grandparents. Ms. Liu’s parents missed their daughter very much.

The Boai police tried to use Ms. Liu's family members to help find Ms. Liu. They threatened Ms. Liu’s younger brother and demanded that he turn in his sister by a certain day. If he failed to do so, he would be suspended from his job. Her brother was not sure what to do and went to consult his father on the matter. A police officer told them, “We just want to see Ms. Liu. As long as she comes back home, everything would be OK. If she has a clear explanation, she would be fine. We would not treat her badly.”

Ms. Liu Ruanping’s father believed that his daughter had not done anything wrong and had no reason to believe the police would lie to them. So he agreed to their request and asked Ms. Liu to come home. Under the pressure from her family members, Ms. Liu went back home, but she firmly refused to meet with the police. At around 7 p.m. on August 31, 2007, Ms. Liu’s family members accompanied Yu Yan from the Boai 610 Office to Ms. Liu’s home. After a short meeting with Ms. Liu, Yu Yan then left.

Ms. Liu began packing her clothes and prepared to leave, but her family tried to stop her. One of her family members said, “Can't you see that nothing has happened? Why do you want to leave?” However, ten minutes later, Yu Yan, Sun Lujun, Li Yinghao and other officers from the Boai 610 Office, as well as officers from the Jiefang District surrounded Ms. Liu’s home. They knocked on the door several times, but she did not open it. The police then broke in at 11 p.m. that night and took Ms. Liu away. Ms. Liu was detained in the Yanhe Detention Center in Jiaozuo. A secret court session was held against Ms. Liu, without her family members being notified. She was sentenced to seven years in Xinxiang Women’s Prison.

When Ms. Liu's family members visited her in prison, she could only talk to them by phone. They were separated by thick glass and were monitored by the guards. Ms. Liu was not allowed to talk about Falun Gong or expose her persecution in the prison.
