(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Wan Lihua, 45, was a nurse at the Xiangyang 477 Hospital. She suffered a mental collapse after abuses in the Shayang Forced Labor Camp. Her hair has turned completely white. She lost the ability to take care of herself, so her mother has taken care of her for several years. After her mother's death in 2010, she started to wander the streets.

There's no way to record all the details about the persecution she suffered due to her mental state. The following is an eyewitness' account of part of the persecution she suffered.

Ms. Wan went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong in September and October of 1999. She was detained and beaten. Deceived by the propaganda against Falun Gong, her brother-in-law and local police had Ms. Wan admitted into Anding Hospital (a mental hospital) in Xiangfan City in August 2000. Ms. Wan was tied to a metal bed, force-fed and injected many times with drugs that damaged her central nervous system. Ms. Wan didn't follow the instructions and was beaten severely and shocked with electric batons. The torture sometimes lasted several hours. When she returned home after two months of abuse, she was unable to think coherently and her mind was unclear.

According to Mr. Zhou Yuantao, a engineer at the 609 Institute who was also abused in Anding Hospital and died in June 2006, some doctors knew those practitioners were both physically and mentally healthy. However, they said with brutality, “A normal person won't be able to put up with one pill, but I'm going to feed you ten!”

Ms. Wan was fired from her job after she returned home. With her mother's care, she recovered to some extent after a month. She started to make a living shining shoes.

In the spring of 2001, her brother-in-law learned of her whereabouts, and the police took Ms. Wan to Shayang Forced Labor Camp. According to an eyewitness, she was severely tortured. Initially the guards attempted to “transform” her using torture and interrogation. Ms. Wan refused to give in. The guards then deprived her of sleep by taking turns interrogating her. Even though she was on the brink of collapse, she didn't give in. Guards Ouyang Daixia and Gong Shan repeatedly slapped her face while swearing at her. Her face swelled up. The guards then dragged her to a secret room and shocked her with several electric batons. They connected wires to both of her hands and forced the electric current through her body. She lost consciousness as a result of the shocks. When she came to and opened her eyes, the guards shocked her with electric batons again. They repeatedly shocked her and she couldn't remember how many times she fainted. More than 10 days of brutal torture and deprivation of sleep severely damaged her mental faculties. She started to experience auditory and visual hallucinations and was murmuring to herself all the time. She viewed the white wall as a road and often hit her head against the wall. She developed several bumps on her head.

The guards attempted to force practitioners to watch movies with bad content from May 1 to 4 in 2001. On May 3, the guards ordered the practitioners to take turns singing songs in praise of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Ms. Wan and Ms. Zhou Ping refused to sing and shouted “Falun Dafa is great!” instead. The guards ordered the inmates to beat, handcuff and shock them. In protest, the practitioners ran to the camp gate. Ms. Wan attempted to open the gate and was dragged back by the guards. She was tortured further afterward.

The guards started another round of abuse at the end of August. They locked Ms. Wan in solitary confinement for several months. She was monitored and not permitted to visit the restroom.

Other methods the guards used to torture Ms. Wan included: forcing her to stand out in the sun in the heat of summer; forcing her to squat down in the grass so that she would be bitten by mosquitoes; standing barefoot on the concrete floor beside the restroom in the winter; stuffing her mouth with dirty rags and beating her; grabbing her hair and making her turn; kicking and hitting her breasts, back, and neck; flicking her eyelids; hitting her head, feet and toes with a stool; etc. They even pulled hard on her nipples and hit her breasts. Her head was covered with bruises. It hurt so much that she couldn't wash or comb her hair. Her hair would fall out easily.

She suffered a mental collapse when she was released from Shayang Forced Labor Camp. She lost the ability to take care of herself.
