(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Peng Yan from Wuhan City, Hubei Province was illegally arrested by officials from the Liangdao Street Police Station of Wuchang District on May 27, 2011. Her oldest brother Mr. Peng Liang and three other practitioners were scheduled to be tried two days later. After attaining the power of attorney from her brother, she had hired a lawyer to defend her brother’s case. However, the authorities took her into custody again.
Over the past few months, Ms. Peng Yan has endured many difficulties visiting all the relevant departments to secure the release of her father and brother. However, she has now been arrested as well. The only member of her family who is not currently detained is her father, but he has become mentally unstable due to the horrific torture he experienced.

All five members of Ms. Peng Yan's family are practitioners of Falun Gong. During the past 11 years since the persecution began, all five have been repeatedly arrested, detained and sentenced. On January 9, 2001, the youngest brother Mr. Peng Min, who was detained in the Qingling Detention Center of Wuchang District, Wuhan, was brutally beaten by other detainees who had been ordered by the prison guards. From these beatings, his arms, legs, and vertebrae were fractured and his body became paralyzed. Mr. Peng Min died in the Wuhan No. 7 Hospital. Twenty-two days after Mr. Peng Min passed away, his mother Ms. Li Yingxiu was beaten to death at the Hongxia Brainwashing Center in Qingling Township. The CCTV “Focal Point” program fabricated lies and reported that Mr. Peng Min had “died because of refusing medical treatments” and Ms. Li Yingxiu “died of a sudden cerebral hemorrhage.”
Mr. Peng Weisheng had been detained in brainwashing centers on eight occasions and in forced labor camps twice. While he was detained in the Hewan Forced Labor Camp in Wuhan, he was tortured so severely that he became mentally disabled.
Mr. Peng Liang was repeatedly arrested and critically tortured to the point of death three times. In late 2001, he was sent to the Tongji Hospital for emergency treatment. In 2002, he was on the verge of death again as a result of persecution in the Yangyuan Brainwashing Center. In 2008, he was again tortured to a critical state in the Hewan Forced Labor Camp.
Ms. Peng Yan was sentenced to a three-year term because she would not give up her belief in Falun Gong. While detained in the Wuhan No. 1 Detention Center, the police tortured her on a death bed for 39 consecutive days. In July 2001, when Zhao Zhifei, the former deputy director of Hubei Provincial Police Department, visited the United States, the American court declared him guilty of directly supervising and being responsible for Mr. Peng Min's and Ms. Li Yingxiu's deaths. The provincial and city 610 Office ordered the Wuhan Women's Prison to “transform” Ms. Peng Yan at all costs in order to shift their responsibility and cover up their heinous crimes against her.
In late 2010, Mr. Peng Weisheng and Mr. Peng Liang were separately arrested. In order to save her father and brother, Ms. Peng Yan, with many difficulties, visited all the relevant departments. Soon after, her father Mr. Peng Weisheng was released, but he had become mentally unstable due to the horrific torture he endured. Her brother Mr. Peng Liang was transferred several times and is still being detained. The local 610 Office claimed that they would try Mr. Peng Liang and another three practitioners, Zhang Jingzhou, Liu Duhong, and Ouyang Haiwen, on the morning of May 31, 2011.
