(Clearwisdom.net) In order for a deep sea diver to accomplish their mission, they need to be armed with the equipment necessary for walking on the seabed. As it is difficult to carry too many things, they only take what is absolutely necessary. They also need equipment to control their ability to ascend and descend. Once the diver has accomplished their mission, they then rise to the surface and go ashore. If they stay in deep water for too long, the water pressure could harm or even kill them.
A practitioner's human body is like a diver’s wetsuit. The fleeting illusions in the human world can seem wonderful and lasting, but we should never forget that the water is not the diver's home. The only purpose for coming to the human world is to accomplish our mission. Once the mission is complete, the diver immediately returns home.
The only reason we came here is to validate the Fa, save sentient beings and achieve Consummation. The way we accomplish our mission is by doing the three things well and balancing it with our everyday lives. We should not become attached to anything we encounter in this world.
The more attachments we can let go of, the more we will be able to float up. Any attachments will tie us down and will become a barrier to our reaching Consummation.
A true practitioner would never be so mesmerized by the human world that they do not want to return home, just as a diver would never want to remain underwater for too long.
