Getting Rid of Fear and Delivering Truth-Clarifying Materials to People

Aug. 15, 2011 |   By a practitioner from Liaoning Province, China

(Clearwisdom.net) I started practicing Falun Dafa in 1996 and am now close to 70 years old. I would like to share my cultivation experiences. Please correct me if there is anything incorrect.

In the winter of 2002, I started to work at the local truth-clarification materials production site. One day, I met with an elderly practitioner. He was concerned about not having a production site in his area, and local practitioners were unable to get Master’s new lectures promptly. They also did not have enough materials for distribution. I brought his concern to our materials site. We decided to provide materials to him, and I took the initiative to be responsible for their delivery. At that time, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents were targeting material production sites for destruction. However, we were convinced that no one could hold us back as long as we had righteous thoughts and acted correctly. Thus I began to be involved in delivering informational materials about Falun Dafa.

For seven years (from 2002 to 2009) several practitioners and I delivered a lot of materials to other regions to enable practitioners in those areas to read Master’s new articles, and for more people to obtain truth-clarification materials. We were all older in age. On each scheduled delivery day, the elderly man I spoke of earlier would have to get up at 3:00 a.m. and take a bus to the city. He never skipped a single delivery. From time to time he did experience interference. The old forces used illness symptoms to test him, making him short of breath. However, he remained calm and asked Master for protection. Soon, the illness symptoms disappeared.

We frequently exchanged our experiences and looked inside ourselves if someone did not act in accordance with the Fa. We were not only partners during the materials delivery, but also helped each other with cultivation and with getting rid of attachments

Master said,

“Fear can cause one to make mistakes, and fear can cause one to lose a predestined opportunity. Fear is a death trap on a human being's journey toward divinity.” (“Pass the Deadly Test”)

I was a fearful person and did not handle pressure well. After the onset of the persecution, I was afraid of the police. One day, I arrived at the materials production site early, and a policeman was waiting there. I thought that he might have come here for the materials site, and I wondered what to do. I was very nervous, avoided talking to him, and hoped other practitioners would show up quickly. Later on, another practitioner arrived and spoke with him. I learned later that this officer was at the building to collect some fees. Why should I be afraid of the police? Fear is a substance, and as a practitioner I realized that I must gradually remove it.

Mater told us,

“Those people that came down to obtain the Fa, those people that came on account of obtaining the Fa, would have come in vain. Regardless of what those lives are now doing, they were, in the beginning, gods. They saw how terrifying it was here, yet they dared to jump headlong in--they dared to come. Why was that? Because they had hope in the Fa-rectification and Dafa, and they came out of a deep faith. No matter how they are behaving now, we need to look at how things were initially and look at their history--at how that life once was--and do our utmost to save them. This is the Great Law of the cosmos, after all, and for the countless sentient beings, it's an opportunity that is hard to come by. It is here just this once, and if they can remain, they will remain; if they cannot, then they will disappear forever. So I feel that we need to keep doing this and keep saving them. If the people who had obtained the Fa today were not you but others, and you were the ones in that circumstance and counted among the ordinary people, think about it: wouldn't you be deserving of pity?” (“Fa Teaching at the 2009 Greater New York International Fa Conference”)

Nothing in cultivation is accidental. Perhaps Master has seen my improvement in this area and provided more opportunities for me to offer more people salvation. One morning in 2008, I did the first four excises in a pine tree grove on a mountain. I saw a police officer coming toward me, up the mountain. In the past, I would have avoided the situation and left quickly, but this time I treated him as my relative and as a person who wanted to be saved. I had no fear. We greeted each other. He continued walking, and I continued the exercises. On my way home, I met another officer and we chatted. I told him the facts about Falun Gong. Most officers who were on duty in the deep mountain forests knew very little about Falun Gong and the evil Party's persecution against it. After our conversation, he quit the Party.

I have an old friend with whom I have kept in contact for decades. In 2005 I took the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party to him and urged him to quit the CCP. I thought he would agree with me and be happy to do so, but the results were disappointing. We had a heated debate, and he ended up getting angry. After looking inward, I realized that I used my emotions instead of righteous thoughts, and I was acting like I was trying to meet some sort of quota for helping people quit the CCP. In order to restore our relationship, I sincerely apologized to him. I then sent him some informational materials about Falun Dafa to read. In the meantime I sent righteous thoughts to eliminate the lies that the CCP had put in his head. In May of 2010, I presented him with some more materials. He looked at a newsletter that I gave him and commented, “The CPP is really evil. Ordinary people who only appealed for fairness were sent to a mental hospital." I said, "You are right! You should consider quitting the Party." He indeed quit the CCP, five years after I started trying to help him to do so. Afterward, his wife quit the CCP, as well.

I am so grateful for Master’s great compassion.
