Sept. 12, 2011 |   By a Falun Gong practitioner in Shanxi Province, China

(Clearwisdom.net) There are ten prison zones and an intense training camp in Shanxi Women's Prison. Falun Gong practitioners are distributed among the different zones. There were about four to six practitioners in each prison zone. At present, there are over ten Taiyuan practitioners detained in the different zones. Ms. Chai Lixia, resident of Yuncheng, over 30, was sentenced to 5 years for the current term. The Chinese Communist Party did not allow her to appeal. She is making handbags, paper bags, wigs, etc. in the 8th Zone. She has two little kids at home and they miss her a lot.

Ms. Kang Shuqin, over 60, is a resident of Taiyuan, Shanxi, in the 10th Zone. She was locked in a small confinement cell because she declared that “transformation” would not work on her.

Ms. Zhou Lan, around 40, a resident of Taiyuan, Shanxi, is in the 10th Zone. She was seriously beaten and persecuted.

Ms. Li Yan, resident of Taiyuan, Shanxi, is in the 10th Zone.

Ms. Liu Guihua, 41, resident of Pingyao, is in the 10th Zone.

Shanxi Women's Prison treats Falun Gong practitioners as main targets to monitor and persecute. The prison does not allow practitioners to appeal, brutally tortures them, adds drugs to their food, locks them in small confinement cells, and orders them to stand for long durations while not allowing them to sleep. Prison police officers also encourage other inmates to beat and slander Falun Gong practitioners, forcing them to watch videos and view brainwashing materials; practitioners are ordered to write so-called understanding and thought reports, to admit guilt, and write declarations to their abandon beliefs, etc. Officers organize “exposing and criticizing” meetings as part of their effort to “transform” Falun Gong practitioners.

The prison organizes 4 people as a monitoring group to monitor each other. There is a labor monitor group, a living monitor group, and a study monitoring group. The prison gets criminal inmates to monitor practitioners’ every move and word. If practitioners do not cooperate, they are not allowed to talk to others. If someone reports an incident, the police will penalize the monitoring group and other prisoners in the same cell. Police often deduct points, do not allow shopping, do not allow family visits, do not allow letter writing, and do not allow washing. They give orders to clean toilets and penalize practitioners in other ways, including threats.
