The festival was first held in 2010. Its goal is to establish an open and interactive multicultural exchange as well as to enrich the spiritual life of communities and to promote the national culture. The first festival showcased folk cultures from different countries and included music, dance, art, and all kinds of delicious ethnic food. The festival was not only a success locally but also attracted many people from Warsaw and other cities. The Falun Dafa Association was invited to the first Multicultural Day Festival to introduce Falun Gong. The festival organizers were so favourably impressed that Falun Gong practitioners were invited to attend the second Multicultural Day.

Participating organizations began to set up on Brzska Street in the Praga District at 8:00 a.m. Inside a yellow tent in the middle of the street hung a banner with words in bold that said: “Falun Dafa in Poland.” The banner could be seen from far away. Truth clarification display boards were put up outside the tent and could be seen from either direction. Three tables inside held colored paper used to make paper lotus flowers, a copybook of Chinese characters, and the “four treasures” (the traditional Chinese writing tools: brush, ink stick, ink slab, and paper). Outside there was a table with truth clarifying booklets in different languages, the Chinese and Polish versions of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, the Polish version of Bloody Harvest, and several clipboards with petitions.

As the practitioners were still busy setting up, many people stood in front of the display boards, studying the contents intently. A young girl seemed not to believe her eyes, pointing at the words on the boards and reading them aloud. Her face showed how shocked she was. Other people asked, “China was a venerable, civilized country. Why has it become so horrible?” More people came over to the tent and asked questions. After practitioners went back to the petition table, the street was blocked several times by those who wanted to learn the facts about Falun Gong. People were handed clipboards with petitions on them to sign, since the petition table was too small.

A guard on duty went to the petition table and signed it after viewing the display boards.

A boy about ten came to the petition table and asked practitioners, “May I sign the petition? I protest the persecution of Falun Gong. I want to support Falun Gong.”

Mr. Marek Borowski is a Member of the Poland Parliament as well as the ex-Chairman of the Poland Parliament. He also came to the petition table. After reading notes on the petitions carefully, he signed to support Falun Gong practitioners’ resisting the persecution. Before leaving, he took a lot of truth clarifying materials, especially the Bloody Harvest report, as well as a paper lotus flower, which symbolizes emerging unstained from the muddy swamp of Chinese culture.

More and more Poles lined up to sign the petition, expressing their indignation and objection. One girl burst into tears in front of the display boards after seeing the photos depicting brutal tortures of China practitioners. Many people asked, “What can I do for you?”

At 9:00 p.m., most of the participating organizations had left, and only several food stores were still open. The Falun Gong tent was still crowded, with many people lined up to make another paper lotus flowers. Two girls who had already learned how to make the flowers began to help adults who wanted to learn. The girls also taught people to read the Chinese words inside the lotus card that said, “Falun Dafa is good, Falun Dafa is good.” The Polish people present knew it was very good.
