(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Qi Hongyu, a Falun Gong practitioner from Jixian County, Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested by officers from the Qianjin Police Station in Jixian County while in her home on the night of August 5, 2011. She was taken to the Jixian County Detention Center. On August 31, 2011, she was taken to the Harbin City Women's Forced Labor Camp and sentenced to one year of forced labor.

When Ms. Qi was in the detention center, her 70-year-old father and other family members went to the Jixian County Police Department many times and asked Geng Zhendong, the deputy director of the Police Department, and Wu Hua, the director of the Domestic Security Division, to release her. The officers replied that, because they had found Dafa books and truth-clarifying materials when they ransacked her home, they would not allow visits. Geng said that the materials were considered “evidence of a crime.” Each time the family went to visit Ms. Qi, the authorities used the materials as an excuse for not allowing them to see her. So the family went to talk to Huang Yingbao, the director of police department, but to no avail.

On August 29, 2011, two officers from the Qianjin Police Station went to Ms. Qi's home to ask someone in her family to sign the papers verifying the verdict. There was no date or length of term on the verdict documents. The documents also contained erroneous evidence. The family asked the police officers their names, but the officers did not answer. Only the name “Zhang Xiaodong” was written on the verdict papers. On September 1, 2011, her family went to the Jixian County Detention Center to visit Ms. Qi. They found out then that she had been transferred to the Harbin City Women's Labor Camp on August 31, 2011.

Ms. Qi was divorced before she started practicing Falun Gong. Her health was deteriorating. In 1997, she started practicing Falun Dafa and great changes occurred to both her physical and spiritual health. She and her daughter traveled to different places to work odd jobs to make a living.

In June 2008, Ms. Qi was reported when she was distributing truth-clarifying materials near Shandong Village. She was arrested. Her daughter planned to get married at the same time that she was sentenced to one year of forced labor. She was taken to the Harbin City Drug Rehabilitation Center. When Ms. Qi was released, her daughter got married and bought a house. She stayed at her daughter's place. Six days after the birth of her grandchild, she was reported to the police by her ex-husband and later sentenced to one year of forced labor.
