(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Yang Shiqian started to practice Falun Gong toward the end of 1997. In 2000, he was arrested and detained in Daxing Detention Center because he went to Beijing to seek justice for Falun Dafa. In September 2001, he was taken to Tekeng Brainwashing Center in Xinyu City. His family was often threatened and harassed by the police.

At the beginning of 2003, Mr. Yang was arrested again, this time by the Xinyu 610 Office for distributing Falun Gong materials. Because he would not give up his belief in Falun Dafa, he was brutally beaten and tortured. In November 2003, he was illegally sentenced and sent to Zhangyu Prison in Jiangxi Province.

In prison, Mr. Yang Shiqian was brutally tortured. He was placed in the “strict monitoring division” twice and in the brainwashing facility twice. He was injured both physically and mentally. Guards Zou Ganhua and Xiang Hui sent vicious criminals Zhu Jie, Xiong Yuebo, and Zheng Qiang to torture Mr. Yang. They punched and kicked him and whipped his ankles with long steel chains.

As a result of torture, his entire body was bruised and eventually some of the bruises ulcerated. His legs and feet became so swollen that he could not walk for nearly two months. He sustained broken bones in both his chest and shoulder. After the incident, the guards threatened Mr. Yang and others, telling them not to let anyone know what they had done.
