(Minghui.org) On October 20, 2012, Falun Gong practitioners held an event on the square in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery in downtown Vancouver, Canada. Practitioners introduced Falun Gong to the public and exposed the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) atrocity of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners imprisoned in China for upholding their belief. Many people were shocked at the atrocity and condemned it. Some expressed interest in the new book State Organs and attended the official book launch event the next day.

Falun Gong practitioners expose CCP’s atrocity of live organ harvesting

At the Falun Gong exercise demonstration site, there were a large banner worded “Falun Dafa is great,” as well as banners reading “Stop the persecution of Falun Gong” and “Chinese Communists' Live Organ Harvesting – an unprecedented evil on this planet.” The banners drew the attention of passers-by. Many people paused to read them and accept informational flyers.

A woman from Vietnam said she believed that the CCP could commit such a crime. She said that the Canadian government should stand up to call for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong in China.

Martin, an American traveling in Vancouver, watched the event attentively. He said that he stood on the side of justice and added that it was important to hold events such as this, to stop the crime of live organ harvesting. He stated that the CCP does not treasure life, as for the sake of profit, the perpetrators take vital organs from prison inmates, most of them prisoners of conscience. He said that he would do something to help stop the crime.

Working together to stop the unprecedented crime

On October 21, David Matas, well-known human rights lawyer, gave a speech at a press conference for the release of the new book, State Organs. Nearly one hundred people attended the event. The book, edited by David Matas and Dr. Torsten Trey, includes contributions from medical professionals across the world. The book exposes how the CCP, using the entire state machine, conducts the atrocity of live organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience, especially Falun Gong practitioners. The authors intend to expose the crimes across the world in order to help stop the atrocity.

Mr. Matas said that the crime of state-sanctioned organ harvesting is unprecedented. In 2006, he and David Kilgour co-authored the book Bloody Harvest. Since then, they have traveled the world to call for an end to the crime of live organ harvesting.

It is time for the medical circle to take action.”

After the CCP’s atrocity of live organ harvesting was exposed, the organization, Doctors against Forced Organ Harvesting, was established. Executive Director Dr. Torsten Trey contacted many doctors across the world to work together in an effort to stop the crime of live organ harvesting.

The book State Organs is a compilation of opinions and analysis by medical professionals from Europe, America, Asia and Austria. Co-editor Dr. Trey is a German doctor and one of the founders of Doctors against Forced Organ Harvesting. In the book, he analyzed that the number of organ transplantation surgeries in China was much larger than the organs available from open sources. He argues that the persecution of Falun Gong in China, including the atrocities of live organ harvesting, has become a crime against humanity. Dr. Trey said that it is time for the medical community to take action.

Jacob Lavee is a professor at the University of Tel Aviv, Israel, and Director of the Heart Transplantation Unit at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv. He stated, “The exposure of the crime of live organ harvesting in China has driven legislation to ban Israeli patients from receiving illegal organ transplants in other countries.” Dr. Lavee was one of the drafters of the law.

Dr. Ghazali Ahmand, Senior Adviser and Director of Nephrology at Hospital Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Dr. Arthur L.Caplan, Chairman of the Department of Bioethics, New York University Langone Medical Center, Dr. Gabriel Danovitch, Head of the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program, David Geffen School of Medicine of the University of California, Maria A. Fiatarone Singh, Professor of Medicine, John Sutton Chair of Exercise and Sport Science, University of Sydney, Australia, and others also contributed to the book.
