(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Che Hongfei from Hongqi Town in the Yingkou area of Liaoning Province has been subjected to five arrests and detention over the past several years. Due to the severe persecution he experienced in Dalian Prison in April 2008, he lost his memory and nearly died. He was later released. Mr. Che was recently arrested again and taken back to prison.

Around 9 a.m. on January 11, 2012, a Dalian Prison warden and several guards went to Mr. Che Hongfei's home in Bayuquan, Yingkou. One of them asked him, “Don't you remember me?” Mr. Che, who still suffers from memory loss related to the trauma he experienced in detention, looked at the man and said, “No, I don't know you.” The man said, “I'm a prison warden.” Then he proceeded to arrest him. Mr. Che's mother, in her 70s, cried and shouted, pleading with the officers not to arrest her son. In the ensuing commotion, her shoes were ripped off her feet. The guards ignored her and dragged Mr. Che into their car and drove away.

After he began practicing Falun Gong in 1997, Mr. Che quit smoking and gambling, and held himself to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. His outstanding reputation is well known locally.

Mr. Che was illegally arrested and detained four times after the persecution of Falun Gong began: in July 2004, June 2005, September 2005, and March 2006. During each detention, Wang Hongkui from the Bayuquan Domestic Security Division extorted 4,000 yuan from Mr. Che. One of the arrests was made by officers from the Hongqi Town Police Station. After that arrest, Mr. Che was held in the Gaizhou City Detention Center before he was transferred to the Yingkou Forced Labor Camp. He was released five months later after developing tuberculosis. As a result of all the illegal detentions and arrests, Mr. Che lost his job eight times.

In February 2006, Mr. Che went to teach English at a private high school in the Yuhong District of Shenyang City. He was arrested for talking about Falun Gong with his students. He was sentenced to seven years in prison and held in Anshan Prison, then later transferred to Dalian Prison on December 27, 2007.

After suffering long-term persecution in Anshan Prison, Mr. Che was in critical condition. He lay in bed and couldn't move. He was emaciated and had no strength to talk or even open his eyes. He suffered from generalized muscular atrophy, arrhythmia, upper gastric bleeding, and severe anemia.

Mr. Che's family requested his release due to his medical condition. The warden refused to agree, giving various excuses. When he was finally released on April 24, 2008, Mr. Che was on the brink of death.

Che Hongfei's parents are in their 70s, and his daughter is around ten years old. After returning home, Mr. Che couldn't take care of himself. He lost his memory and depended on his parents to look after him. This innocent person, who can no longer live a normal, productive life as a result of persecution, is once again being subjected to illegal imprisonment.
