(Clearwisdom.net) One day at about six a.m in early October 2011, Meizhou City Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xie Hanzhu, who was incarcerated in Cell 509 of the 12th Prison District, shouted, “Falun Dafa is good!” As he shouted, his voice became louder and louder. Five inmates who were monitoring him tried to stop him by smearing his lips with human feces.
The chief of the inmates who monitored Falun Gong practitioners immediately went to get hold of on-duty guard Zhang. Zhang went to Cell 509, yelled at Xie Hanzhu, and ordered him to stop shouting “Falun Dafa is good!” Mr. Xie did not comply and kept on shouting, angering Zhang so much that he beat Mr. Xie brutally. Gradually, Mr. Xie's voice weakened, but he still continued calling out for another half hour.
After meeting for two days, the prison's 610 Office decided to move Mr. Xie to Cell 603 for implementation of “strict control,” and they increased the number of inmates monitoring him from five to eight, in a room of about 200 square feet. They put heavy shackles on him. The cell was also supplied with a huge loudspeaker, and as soon as Mr. Xie shouted, “Falun Dafa is good,” the inmates monitoring him would turn on the loudspeaker to cover up the sound of Mr. Xie's voice.
To pressure Mr. Xie to give up his belief, the guards tortured him physically and mentally without restraint. He was only allowed to sleep two hours every six days, which caused him to suffer tremendously. An inmate with some compassion said, “If this torture continues, he'll be mentally sick sooner or later.”
