Daegu, Korea: Arts Professionals Laud Shen Yun as the Highest Art Form

(Clearwisdom.net) The internationally renowned Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company captivated the hearts and souls of audience members for six shows from February 24-28, 2012 at the Suseong Artpia in Suseong-gu Daegu, Korea.

Director of art museum: Shen Yun “World-class supreme performance”

Mr. Gin Dae-nan, director of an art museum in Daegu, was glad to see what he referred to as the “climax of arts performances” that day.

Mr. Gin expressed his excitement after watching the show. “I want to come to see Shen Yun each time it tours Korea. Shen Yun indeed gives a world-class supreme performance. From what I can see in the 5,000 years of Chinese art, Shen Yun’s performance has reached the climax of art.”

He was proud that Shen Yun performed in Daegu. “Shen Yun always performs in Suseong Artipia when it comes to Daegu. With its reputation, Shen Yun’s visit makes people in the art circle of Daegu very proud.”

Mr. Gin talked about how the dances perfectly matched with the dynamic projection of the backdrop and the music. “The elegance of the artists, the graceful dances, the majestic backdrop projection, and the soul-touching music, blended together flawlessly. It makes me feel that I have seen the true art.”

“The program How the Monkey King Came to Be made a deep impression on me. The Tibetan dance Khata for the Gods was absolutely dazzling. I could feel that every essential element in the performance was perfectly presented on the stage and the combination of the elements was unforgettable.”

Mr. Gin concluded, “In my eyes, as far as stage art is concerned, Shen Yun’s skills and surpassing beauty have reached the climax of world-class art.”

“I am very excited because I feel a kind of inspiration and that I am uplifted. I have not been physically well recently, but after watching Shen Yun, I feel that I am reborn,” Ms. Kim said.

The performance drew thunderous applause from the audience at the final curtain call. “I watch Shen Yun every year,” said Ms. Kim, “This year I am even more excited. I am completely fascinated by the exquisite scenes in the show.

“The music from the live orchestra is especially enchanting. The music perfectly manifests the messages the stories conveyed. … The color tones of the costumes blended in seamlessly with the messages it tried to send.

“Buddha appeared and saved everything in the last number, Before Disaster, the Divine Is Rescuing. I felt the compassion of Buddha. Shen Yun cleansed my heart.

“It feels like I entered a very peaceful, rainbow-like realm. I was in a dream and I experienced the beauty of being a bud emerging from the earth during the awakening of spring.

“Shen Yun’s costumes, music and digital backdrop absolutely amazed me. I believe that it will continue to be that way in the future.”

Ms. Kim concluded, “I have introduced Shen Yun to many people in Daejeon. It would be wonderful if more people could come to see such a fantastic show.”

Former arts university president: “perfect synchronization of music and dance”

Mr. Jang Young Mok, former president of the Daegu Arts University, and former orchestra conductor, saw the show for the first time.

He praised the performance, saying, “The conductor synchronized the rhythm of the music, and the movements of dancers on stage was perfect. When looking at it from the perspective of coordination [between the orchestra and the dancers], the performance of the orchestra left nothing to be desired.”

Mr. Jang said that the performance was remarkable. “The programs of the show illustrated the contemporary and legendary stories in the 5,000-year Chinese history, along with the music played by the live orchestra. It is indeed wonderful.”

He continued, “The show was composed of dance, vocal solos and the performance of the live orchestra. Though they seem to belong to different artistic forms on the surface, they performed together wonderfully to illustrate various historic stories. In this regard, it is very impressive, and the choreography was also great.

“In addition, the synchronization of the dynamic backdrops and the performance on the stage was seamless, which gave the audience a kind of magical feeling. I highly acclaim these performers,” he added.

Mr. Jang spoke highly of the Shen Yun Orchestra’s conductor. He said, “From the perspective of arts, the performance of the orchestra was exceptionally good. I felt that the conductor did a wonderful job in terms of the coordination between the music and the dances on the stage.”

He said he was deeply impressed by the program that depicted Falun Dafa practitioners’ courage and steadfast faith in their belief. He explained, “In the battle between good and evil, good eventually overpowers the evil. The program will leave an indelible impression on the audience’s mind.”

“Everyone around the world should see Shen Yun”

Also in the audience was Mr. Jun Chang Gyoo, president of the Buddhist Cultural Olympiad Promotion Association.

He gave the performers many standing ovations during the show as he was deeply moved by the magnificent performance. He said, “It would be great if all people around the world could have the opportunity to see Shen Yun.”

He said that he really enjoyed the program How the Monkey King Came to Be, in which the Monkey King is tamed by the Goddess of Mercy. Touched by the program, Mr. Jun said that what he enlightened to was that mankind should not forsake the divine. He added that everyone should see the show. “It would be wonderful if all the people in the world could see Shen Yun,” he repeated.

He highly praised the performers for their dancing skills, saying, “It’s beyond words to express my feeling about the splendid dances, and that kind of feeling will forever remain in my mind.”

He also commended the gorgeous colors of the costumes and the digital backdrops, describing them as “fantastic.”
