Ms. Luo Minhu from Kunming, Yunnan Province Arrested by Police, Son Seeks Justice

March 9, 2012 |   By a Clearwisdom correspondent from Yunnan Province, China

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Luo Minhu from Kunming City, Yunnan Province was illegally arrested in June of last year by local police, and her arrest was later retroactively approved by the Procuratorate. Ms. Luo's son decided to appeal for his mother because he believes that she has not done anything wrong by practicing Falun Gong, and that the police have no legal basis for the arrest.

Ms. Luo Minhu, 49, is a sanitation worker at Xinke Software Company in the city of Kunming. She was taken away by officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Xishan Police Sub-Bureau in the morning of June 23, 2011. At 9 a.m., the police ransacked Ms. Luo's home. Ms. Luo's son Deng Jun was also present at the time and witnessed the police confiscate photos of the founder of Falun Gong, Falun Gong books, Falun Gong truth clarification materials, discs, a computer, a printer, and other belongings. The police refused to provide the list of confiscated items because Mr. Deng would not provide his signature. After the police ransacked Ms. Luo's home, they took her to the Jinbi Police Station and called Mr. Deng to the station soon after.

After Mr. Deng arrived at the Jinbi Police Station, the police gave him his mother's watch, MP3 player, and necklace. They then conducted an illegal interrogation with Mr. Deng and recorded the statement, asking whether he saw his mother use the printer to print Falun Gong truth clarification materials or burn discs, whether other Falun Gong practitioners ever visited her home, whether she gave any truth clarification materials to other Falun Gong practitioners, and other related questions. Finally, the police fingerprinted Mr. Deng and told him to sign the written records.

A week later, in the morning of June 30, Mr. Deng went to the Domestic Security Division of the Xishan Police Sub-Bureau to ask for his mother's release after he heard that his mother's arrest was approved. One police officer who took part in the arrest told Mr. Deng to sign his name on the detention notification and arrest warrant. Mr. Deng refused to sign his name and said to the police: “My mother has not committed a crime, so I will not sign this.”

Mr. Deng, a college student, read through China's existing laws and concluded that the Chinese Communist Party has no legal basis for the persecution of Falun Gong. Mr. Deng has appealed the illegal arrest of his mother and requested that the police release his mother immediately.

Mr. Deng wrote in his appeal letter: “My mother is a good person. She has not done a wrong deed by practicing Falun Gong and there is nothing wrong with her spreading the glory of Falun Gong to others. It is because she practices Falun Gong that she is considerate of others and acts so compassionately.”

As Mr. Deng recalls: “My mother had many illnesses such as Hepatitis B and slight ascites, or pathogenic fluid collection in the abdomen, when she was younger, and was in poor physical condition. I was still young at that time. My father sold his cigarettes to get money to treat my mother's illnesses, but she did not recover. After she began practicing Falun Gong, all of her illnesses disappeared. She is very healthy and has not taken a single pill in more than a decade. Our family is also in a good shape. My mother lives by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and tries to be a good person all the time. At work, she is a diligent employee; at home, she is a caring and responsible mother. I know that Falun Gong saved my mother's life and made her a kind and considerate person.”

Mr. Deng requests that the CCP police release his mother immediately.
