Military Officer Detained Ten Years and Still Denied Residential Registration a Year After Release

April 2, 2012 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Gansu Province, China

(Minghui.org) Major Wang Youjiang was an officer in the Telecommunications Troop in Lanzhou Military Command. He was imprisoned for ten years. Although he was released one year ago, his family is still being repeatedly harassed by the local CCP Political and Legal Committee, the Yongdeng County 610 Office, and the local police. His elderly parents' life has been severely disrupted.

On March 8, 2011, an official from the Yongdeng Political and Legal Committee led policeman Gan from the Yongdeng Domestic Security Division, policeman Zhao from the local police station, and Yang from the local judiciary bureau to deceive Mr. Wang's family in opening their door. They claimed they wanted to “help Wang Youjiang obtain his required resident registration and identification card.” After entering the house, Gan rummaged through the rooms. The official from the Yongdeng Political and Legal Committee directly threatened Mr. Wang's family, saying that the scrolls on the door to Wang's home did not conform the CCP's regulations and were a bad influence. The scrolls were removed immediately, otherwise Wang Youjiang would have trouble getting a resident registration and identification card.

Mr. Wang's family questioned the committee official as to which regulation the scrolls did not conform to, how they were a bad influence, and who was harmed, but the official did not respond. When Mr. Wang's family further asked him to point out which word in the scrolls was inappropriate, he was speechless. Mr. Wang's family said it is a citizen's right to post a scroll and no one had the right to interfere. They were the government's law enforcement personnel and their unreasonable demand was against the law. Mr. Wang's family advised these men to think about this seriously and not to knowingly violate the law. However, the officers did not listen and forcibly pulled down the scrolls. When one of the men tried to remove the horizontal scroll that said “Buddha's light shines everywhere,” Mr. Wang Youjiang asked him, “Are you afraid of the Buddha's Fa? Do you know who is afraid of Buddha's Fa? Demons, only demons are afraid of the Buddha's Fa!” The official lowered his head and did not say anything.

Passers-by saw what was happening and condemned those officers' illegal actions. The officers fled quickly.

Mr. Wang Youjiang started to practice Falun Gong in 1998. After Jiang Zemin's regime launched the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Mr. Wang was detained several times. On January 10, 2001, he was arrested and detained in the Xiguoyuan Detention Center in Lanzhou. During the detention, guards hit and kicked him. He was forced into slave labor for a long time and inhumanly tortured. When he was transferred to the Siergou Detention Center in Xigu, Lanzhou, he could not stand up. On July 3, 2001, the Chengguang District Court in Lanzhou secretly sentenced Mr. Wang to ten years in prison. Mr. Wang was first detained in the Xiguoyuan Detention Center and then transferred to the Siergou Detention Center and the Dashaping Prison. He was released on January 9, 2011.

Mr. Wang applied for his required resident registration and identification ID in April 2011. Almost a year has passed. Wang Yujuan, a policewoman of the Resident Registration Administration Office in Yongdeng Police Department, continually made excuses for the delay. She said: “We are still trying to drive away those Falun Gong practitioners currently in our local area. How can we receive a new one?” Her tone and the look in her eyes expressed extreme hatred toward Falun Dafa and practitioners.
