(Minghui.org) On May 2, 3, and 4, as part of activities celebrating World Falun Dafa Month, a Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance International Art Exhibit was held at the Great Hall, University of Minnesota Coffman Memorial Union for the third time.
Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak sent the following letter of congratulations:
The art exhibit drew students, staff, and visitors, including Chinese people, during the busy finals week at the University of Minnesota. The exhibit affected people deeply.
An art major walked up to the painting, “An Orphan’s Sorrow” and said, "This painting depicts everything so clearly. No need for explanation." Another visitor wrote in the guest book, "I am forever changed."
Additional comments from the guest book included:
- This is a beautiful exhibit; very moving and inspiring. I hope more people know about the practice and what is happening in China, so that the persecution will end. Thank you for the experience.
- It was interesting and enlightening. I especially enjoyed the painting in Manhattan Park. Really informative and deeply moving. I will research this more as a result.
- This is a wonderful and very enlightening exhibit. Thank you for sharing and educating about Falun Gong. I was very shocked and upset by some of the pieces that depicted the torture and uplifted by those that proved that goodness could prevail as well as the practice and focus and the brilliance it can create.
- Incredibly powerful art; this exhibit proves beyond any doubt the power of the visual art medium, and the necessity that this kind of art (used to illuminate and empower change for the injustices present in the world) is what must be made and seen.
- This exhibit was eye opening and I learned about something that has been going on for years. If I had not decided to walk in I would have never known this was happening.
- The stories of Falun Dafa are powerfully and effectively portrayed in these exquisite works of art. My thoughts go out to all of those who have suffered and those who continue to suffer. May you find peace.
The international art exhibit "Uncompromising Courage" was held at the Great Hall several years ago. That exhibit visited more than 200 cities in more than 40 countries. “The Art of Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance” Exhibit grew out of "Uncompromising Courage." New artwork was added along with new understandings and insights. The exhibition includes 28 pieces created by Falun Dafa artists, many of whom had personally experienced the persecution. The artists used traditional painting techniques as they focused on seven themes: I. Arrival of the Lord Buddha, II. The Joy of Cultivation, III. Persecution in China, IV. Nonviolent Resistance, V. Karmic Retribution, VI. Buddha’s Infinite Grace, and VII. The Point of No Return.
