Maryland: The City of Baltimore Issues Proclamation Declaring May 13, 2012, “Falun Dafa Day”

(Minghui.org) On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the introduction of Falun Dafa to the public, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Mayor of the City of Baltimore proclaimed May 13, 2012, “Falun Dafa Day” in Baltimore, Maryland.

Designating May 13, 2012 as “Falun Dafa Day” in Baltimore

Whereas, Falun Dafa is a spiritual discipline first introduced in China in 1992 by its founder, Li Hongzhi; and

Whereas, it combines the practice of meditation and slow-moving qigong exercises with a moral philosophy; and

Whereas, Falun Dafa emphasizes morality and the cultivation of virtue in its central tenets of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and identifies as a qigong practice of the Buddhist school, although its teachings also incorporate elements drawn from Taoist traditions; and

Whereas, through moral rectitude and practice of meditation, practitioners of Falun Dafa aspire to better health, and ultimately, spiritual enlightenment.

THEREFORE, I, STEPHANIE RAWLINGS-BLAKE, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF BALTIMORE, do hereby proclaim May13, 2012, as “FALUN DAFA DAY” IN BALTIMORE, and do urge citizens to join in this celebration according to their own beliefs.
