(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Dr. Yue Qin, in his forties, is a doctor of Radiology at Wuzhong Town Hospital in Wuzhong City, Ningxia Province. He was illegally arrested on July 9, 2010, and later secretly sentenced to seven years in prison. He is currently detained at Yinchuan Prison in Ningxia Province.
On July 9, 2010, under the order of Qiao Encheng, deputy director of the Ningxia Police Department, officers from the local 610 Office branches ransacked the homes of Falun Gong practitioners and made a number of arrests. The homes of practitioners from Yinchuan, Wuzhong, Qingtongxia, Lingwu, and Shizhuishan cities were ransacked that day.
Li Jun, chief of the Litong Domestic Security Division in Wuzhong, gave orders to the following subordinates to carry out arrests of Falun Gong practitioners: Deputy Chief Ma Baozhen and several officers, Xue Minghua from the Gucheng Police Station in Litong, Guo Jianjun from the Chaoyang Police Station, and Li Zhengjiang and Wang Hao from the Domestic Security Division of Qingtongxia Police Department. They arrested Dr. Yue Qin and his wife Chao Jingpei and Ma Xiongde. Ma Xiongde's son was also taken. The police ransacked their homes and confiscated Dafa books, computers, cell phones, and other personal property.
Ma Xiongde's son was released after being detained overnight. The remaining three practitioners were detained in the Wuzhong Detention Center. Ms. Chao Jingpei was released soon after, and Ma Xiongde was released a little later because he was ill.
On November 2, 2010, Dr. Yue Qin was given a heavy, seven-year prison sentence by the Wuzhong Court. He was sent to Yinchuan Prison.
Yinchuan Prison is one of the locations where the Chinese Communist Party's 610 Office persecutes Ningxia Province Falun Gong practitioners. Since July 20, 1999, when the persecution began, at least 100 practitioners have been detained there. The prison subjects practitioners to brutal persecution over extended periods of time, hiring outside “experts” to train prison guards in a variety of methods to “transform” or brainwash practitioners. “Transformation” methods at Yinchuan Prison often involve physical torture including hanging people up by their handcuffed wrists, shocking them with electric batons, and tying people up tightly with ropes. The guards force practitioners to watch videos defaming Falun Gong and then have them write “reports on their understanding.” Family visits are not allowed, and practitioners are forced to do highly intensive labor for more than ten hours every day. The guards often instigate other prisoners to beat Falun Gong practitioners. Practitioners who are not "transformed" are subjected to further persecution, including beatings and long-term solitary confinement in small cells. In addition, their families are often threatened.
