San Francisco: Rally Calls Attention to a Chinatown Hate Crime Targeting Falun Gong (Photos)

July 1, 2012

(Minghui.org) On June 27, Falun Gong practitioners and supporters from the Bay Area, California, held a rally in Sacramento, urging the city government, council and police department of San Francisco to thoroughly investigate a recent hate crime against Falun Gong in the Chinatown of San Francisco, and bring the criminals to justice.

The rally

Ms. Wang, one of the victims of the hate crime in Chinatown, San Francisco, pointed out that every citizen, especially the government officials in San Francisco needs to answer the question: Why were innocent people, who follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, attacked in a free country, where people believe in democracy and freedom? She said: “Everybody needs take a stance between good and evil.”

Ms. Wang said that the similar attacks have happened eight times in the last eight months.

“I have to ask, why some Chinese people in Chinatown, San Francisco, hate Falun Gong so much? I found that many of them don't even know what Falun Gong is, and they have no idea why the persecution in China is happening. I wonder where their hatred is from?” Ms. Wang said.

Ms. Wang said: “I have talked to many American people. All of them are sympathetic to the practitioners who are being tortured in China, and most of them support Falun Gong's peaceful resistance to the persecution. So, who makes the Chinese people hate Falun Gong so much? I realized that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has already extended the brainwashing and incitement of hatred to America. Some of the Chinese people in Chinatown have already become the tool of the CCP in persecuting Falun Gong.”

“If we don't stop such hate crimes, similar attacks will happen again, and Chinatown will become a part of the communist world and an island isolated from the free world,” said Ms. Wang.

She called upon the government officials to investigate the hate crimes in Chinatown, provide protection to Falun Gong practitioners, bring the criminals to the justice, and ensure freedom in Chinatown.

Mr. Roger Canfield gives a speech.

Mr. Roger Canfield, an expert in Chinese issues and American foreign policy, said in his speech at the rally that the attacks toward Falun Gong practitioners in San Francisco is a threat to the U.S. by the CCP. It is a slap on the face of the American people.

Mr. Canfield said that the CCP has corrupted some of our politicians and businessmen with money, and tried to control many Chinese media in the U.S.

He called upon the mayor of San Francisco not to be influenced by the Chinese community leaders who are controlled by the CCP, such as Bai Lan. He said that the mayor needs to position himself correctly when handling this issue.

Mr. Canfield pointed out that the CCP actually has a lot of fears and it is very weak. He hopes that the attack in San Francisco will be a wake up call to Americans who carry false notions about the CCP.

Background:

As Falun Gong practitioners held display boards in San Francisco's Chinatown to raise awareness about the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) ongoing persecution of Falun Gong, over a dozen people came over to verbally abuse and physically assault the practitioners. The incident took place around noon on June 10, 2012, at the junction of Grant Avenue and Washington Street. The police arrested those participating in the assault. It is suspected that the aggressors were influenced by the CCP, which has repeatedly attempted to intimidate Falun Gong practitioners overseas.

More than 20 people came over in succession to provoke and verbally abuse practitioners holding the display boards. Several practitioners were beaten. People who witnessed the assault immediately called the police. One of the practitioners videotaped the incident.

The man wearing a gray hat who had led the mob of aggressors tried to escape as the police arrived at the scene. As he was unable to do so, he then lay down on the ground and pretended that he was hurt. The police watched the video shot by the practitioner and then proceeded to arrest those instigating the assault.
