(Minghui.org) On July 10, 2012, U.S. Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, House Committee on Foreign Affairs, and founder of the Taiwan Caucus, wrote to President Ma Ying-jeou of Taiwan about the kidnapping of Falun Gong practitioner Chung Ting-pang by Chinese security. In addition, Mr. Chung’s daughter Chung Ai went to the United States on July 11 to visit the U.S. House of Representatives and international organizations to seek more help for her father’s release.
Congressman Rohrabacher stated, “It has come to my attention that on June 18th a Taiwanese citizen named Chung Ting-pang, was kidnapped by Chinese state security agents while he was attempting to board a flight returning to Taiwan. It is suspected that Mr. Chung was imprisoned for being a Falun Gong practitioner. My concern is for the safe and immediate release of Mr. Chung. Yet, the Government of Taiwan has been silent on this issue and has not pressed Communist China to release Mr. Chung.
“As a founder of the Taiwan Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives, I have always believed that democracy and freedom are values our countries hold in common, which justifies the special relationship we have had.
“I encourage you personally, as well as the Government of Taiwan, to speak out strongly against the detention of Mr. Chung and against all religious and political persecution in mainland China. Mr. Chung should never have been arrested and Taiwan should not stand idle while its citizens are held captive. Thank you.”

Mr. Chung’s family members go to Washington DC to seek help
On July 11, Mr. Chung’s daughter and her aunt went to Washington, DC. Spokesperson Teresa Chu of the Taiwan Falun Gong Human Rights Lawyers Working Group said, “We hope the international community will speak out and righteous people will help return Chung Ting-pang to Taiwan.”

On July 10, Chung Ai wrote that it was disappointing that the government of Taiwan did not dispatch personnel to accompany Mr. Chung’s mother and daughter to mainland China to ensure their safety. She initiated a signature collection on Facebook to call on President Ma to quickly rescue Mr. Chung. She indicated that she would participate in the Falun Gong rally in Washington DC, give a speech, and visit the House of Representatives and international human rights organizations to call for the rescue of her father.
