Falun Gong Practitioners' Meals Drugged in Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp

July 8, 2012 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Beijing, China

(Minghui.org) Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp has functioned as a concentration camp to persecute and torture Falun Gong practitioners. The labor camp, located in the Daxing District of Beijing, uses despicable means to try to force practitioners to renounce their faith. Placing practitioners in solitary confinement, force-feeding them and forcing them to sit on tiny benches without moving for extended periods of time are commonly employed tactics. In addition, the labor camp has colluded with Likang Bureau to add unknown drugs to the meals of practitioners who refuse to be “transformed,” in an attempt to damage their health.

Likang Bureau is located near Beijing Women's Labor Camp. It was established on November 16, 2011, from the joint resources of the Xinhe Hospital and Tiantanghe Hospital. The medical staff there took a pledge to keep the persecution of Falun Gong in the bureau and the labor camp a secret.

After Falun Gong practitioners were taken to Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp, the wardens forced them to write a statement that they would not refuse medical examination or treatment. Subsequently, if a practitioner did not obey the wardens' instructions or acknowledge “having done wrong,” they would be subjected to a medical examination by the doctors from Likang Bureau, who would then falsely claim that the practitioner had high blood pressure or another condition. When practitioners did not cooperate in taking medication, the wardens stealthily added unknown drugs to their meals.

The wardens also forced Falun Gong practitioners who refused to be “transformed” to sit without moving for extended periods of time. When practitioners' legs and feet became swollen as a result of this abuse, the wardens would claim that practitioners had diabetes and tell them: “The doctors have said that diabetic patients should eat less. So, if you ate one bun in the past, now you should eat just half a bun.” They would also forbid practitioners to buy food, making every effort to leave practitioners hungry and causing them to become more and more emaciated.

In some instances, Falun Gong practitioners could see that there were drugs or poisons in their food, as they could see a suspicious powder along the edges of their meal and their food tasted bitter. When they brought it to the attention of the wardens, the wardens first told them to lower their voice, fearing that others would overhear, and then told them not to eat the meal. Subsequently, the wardens continued to add drugs to practitioners' meals. When practitioners complained, the wardens again told them not to eat the meal. In this way, practitioners were left without food and were forced to starve.

Practice of Drugging Practitioners Widespread in Chinese Prisons

The practice of adding unknown drugs to the meals of steadfast Falun Gong practitioners has been widespread at labor camps, brainwashing centers and prisons run by the communist regime. For example:

Minghui.org reported on May 29, 2012, that meals of Falun Gong practitioners imprisoned at Jinzhong Prison in Shanxi Province had unknown drugs added. Confirmed cases include those of Ms. Li Runfang and Ms. Kang Suqin.

Minghui.org reported on May 19, 2012, that director of Langfang 610 Office Han Zhiguang and section chief Chen Bin colluded to add drugs while force-feeding Ms. Xie Qimin at Langfang Brainwashing Center in Hebei Province.

Minghui.org reported on November 28, 2011, that Falun Gong practitioners imprisoned at Women's Second Prison in Yunnan Province were drugged, causing multiple practitioners to develop psychiatric disorders.

Minghui.org reported on May 1, 2012, that Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Yulan was illegally sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment and drugged with unknown substances at Tianjin Women's Prison, causing problems in both of her legs and eventually rendering her unable to walk, as well as causing optical atrophy that resulted in blindness in both of her eyes.
