(Minghui.org) On July 4, 2012, Italian MEP Cristiana Muscardini raised questions with the European Commission on the freedom of belief of Falun Gong.
The content of the inquiry is as follows:
The High Representative must be aware of China’s [Editors note: Referring to the Chinese Communist Party, or the CCP] long-standing position on the Falun Gong spiritual movement and its insistence on imposing its will on other countries. For example, this week the Russian Supreme Court plans to announce a ruling to ban Falun Gong publications. Without a doubt, persecution is a flagrant violation of human rights irrespective of the form in which it appears. Religious and cultural freedom is sacrosanct. Any attempt to restrict, or even eliminate, it is a crime that needs to be prosecuted and strongly condemned. In order to support this fight for freedom that is taking place around the world, and especially to put pressure on Russia, I hereby raise these inquiries with the Commission:
1. Has any measure has been taken to protect the freedom of movement of Falun Gong [practitioners]?
2. Which international organizations are willing to fight for the protection of religious freedom, in light of the recent massacres of Christians in Nigeria and Kenya?
3. Are you willing to require upholding human rights as a condition when signing trade agreements with foreign countries, especially with those in question are unable to guarantee these rights?
4. How can it be acceptable for countries such as Russia, which has just entered the WTO, to violate human rights so blatantly?
