Chinese Communist Court Tries Falun Gong Practitioners in Secret, Their Families Demand an Explanation

Aug. 4, 2012 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) On July 3, 2012, the Qixia Court in Shandong Province secretly tried Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Lin Guojun, Mr. Feng Yunxue, Ms. Feng Cuirong, Ms. Jiang Shuying, Ms. Lin Guoling, and Ms. Sun Qianjing without informing their families or their lawyers. After their families learned about the trial, they were furious and demanded a reasonable explanation.

One of Mr. Feng Yunxue's relatives went to speak with Lin Baohua, the vice president of the criminal court, and said, “Mr. Feng Yunxue has been detained for almost a year, and we haven't been allowed to see him. We have been waiting for his trial. Why didn't you inform us? We have no idea how he is.” Lin replied, “He is OK.” Mr. Feng's relative continued, “How can he be? His in-laws are both over 80, paralyzed and bedridden. Their two other sons have passed away, and only Feng Yunxue is left to take care of them. Now Feng Yunxue is in custody. Because of this, I have to shoulder all the responsibilities to take care of the older generation. You should try being in my shoes. What if you were me? Good will be rewarded. I urge you to do what's right!” Lin explained, “We found so much evidence. He possessed almost 3,000 Falun Gong amulets(1).” The relative countered, “What kind of evidence is that? Feng Yunxue was an alcoholic before. He quit drinking after he started practicing Falun Gong. He just wanted to let more people know the truth. Did he break any laws? Even murderers have public trials. Why can't you allow public trials for Falun Gong practitioners who are good people?” Lin said, “I can't do anything about this. The order was passed down from above.”

Mr. Lin Guojun's daughter went to the courthouse and said to Lin Baohua, “I hired a lawyer for my father. Why didn't you inform us of the trial?” Lin said, “For a case like this, there is no need to inform you.” She asked, “Which law says there is no need to inform Falun Gong practitioners' families of their trials? Show it to me!” Lin ran out of explanations and made himself scarce.

On August 30, 2011, the Qixia 610 Office in Shandong Province conspired with the Yantai Public Security Bureau to arrest over 20 practitioners and their friends and families and confiscate much of their property. In December, the families hired five lawyers from Beijing to defend them. Faced with the facts, the prosecutor's office returned the cases to the public security bureau twice, and canceled their trials. However, the Qixia Public Security Bureau refused to release the practitioners. They continually tried to make up false charges against them in order to prosecute them again.

In May 2012, the Qixia Court accepted the cases. Five lawyers from Beijing were retained to defend the detained practitioners. However, on July 3, 2012, the Qixia Court secretly tried them without informing their families or their lawyers.
