(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhao Ye, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Tangshan, Hebei, was arrested in 2011 and then taken to the Hebei Provincial Women's Forced Labor Camp. She became emaciated after a year of torture, weighing less than 80 pounds (she is 5'3” tall). Her right arm was injured and she was incoherent. The forced labor camp authorities released her on bail for medical treatment after she could no longer care for herself. Ms. Zhao's health deteriorated significantly due to the severe torture. Her family spent tens of thousands of yuan for her hospital bills over the next five months following her release. Although she was still ill and required daily intravenous injections, the labor camp authorities forced her family to report Ms. Zhao's activities every month.

On February 25, 2011, Huojulu Police officers arrested Ms. Zhao. She was then transferred to the Domestic Security Division of Gaoxin Public Security Bureau of Tangshan. The Bureau incarcerated her in the Tangshan City Detention Center without a legal deposition or signed documentation. On March 11, 2011, Liu Hong (captain) and Xie Lei from the Domestic Security Division of Gaoxin Public Security Bureau handcuffed Ms. Zhao and took her to the Kaiping Forced Labor Camp. She was tortured there for a year and nine months. Legal documentation was never provided throughout her term.

On May 8, 2011, Ms. Zhao was transferred from the Kaiping Forced Labor Camp to the Hebei Provincial Women's Forced Labor Camp. Ms. Zhao refused to perform slave labor. Several prison guards from the third brigade then tortured her. They forced her to stand in the workshop all day long until everyone finished work, then she had to sit on a small stool in the lobby over a one-week period. Lv Yaqin, a captain of the third brigade, threatened to prolong her sentence and to torture her. Lv sent people to brainwash Ms. Zhao into giving up her Falun Dafa practice. Ms. Zhao refused, so the guards forced Ms. Zhao to clean the workshop, and for a while, Ms. Zhao was not allowed to shower.

In August 2011, several practitioners in the third brigade stopped working to protest their illegal sentence. Lv believed that they were influenced by Ms. Zhao, and subsequently intensified her persecution. From August 15 to 17, 2011, guards Lv and Liu Ziwei mobilized several male guards, who took turns taking the practitioners to separate dark rooms, and tortured them with electric batons and vicious beatings for two days. They cut Ms. Zhao's right arm with an iron blade, causing severe injury and muscle atrophy in her right arm. The damage was permanent. Guards then forced Ms. Zhao to sit on a folded stool (http://en.minghui.org/html/articles/2010/11/7/121295.html#.UFHriq7fAoM) in the workshop during the day. At night, Ms. Zhao refused to sing songs praising the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), so Wang Xin, captain of the prison guards, and Shi Jiangxia forced her to sleep in the lobby for four months.

The nerves in Ms. Zhao's right arm were damaged, causing her right hand to atrophy, leaving it much smaller than her left hand. She could not control her right arm, and relied only on her left hand for daily activities. She applied several times to go to a public hospital for a comprehensive exam. Doctor Ma in the labor camp clinic (first name unknown, in his 40s, wearing glasses) said that she would be fine because her bone was not damaged. When her family demanded her release on medical bail for hospital care, the camp authorities lied to them, informing them that Ms. Zhao was treated in the labor camp and had recovered.

Ms. Zhao's health deteriorated, beginning with frequent coughing followed by a lung infection. In the winter of 2011, her hearing began to fail. In the beginning of 2012, her health worsened. Her appetite was diminished and she had diarrhea. She coughed out black phlegm and moved slowly. She walked unsteadily, and gradually became incoherent and started to hallucinate. She could not recognize her belongings and thought she saw her father outside the window wanting to take her home. Captain Wang claimed that she was faking everything.

Once in the dining area, Ms. Zhao had to go to the toilet because of her diarrhea. She asked Wang Weiwei, a captain of the guards for permission, but Wang dragged her back to her seat. She was forced to relieve herself in her seat. Later, someone pitied her and gave her a cooked egg; she took a bite and started vomiting.

Due to the diarrhea and malnutrition, Ms. Zhao began to dehydrate and experienced fainting spells. Once, she lost consciousness in the bathroom. Eventually, she couldn't walk, which required another person to carry her to the workshop. On March 1, 2012, labor camp authorities finally treated Ms. Zhao in the clinic and administered an intravenous injection. However, a captain monitored her and no one was allowed to speak to her. Finally, authorities transferred her to a public hospital.

On March 14, 2012, Ms. Zhao's family received an urgent notice and rushed to the forced labor camp. At that time, Ms. Zhao was incoherent, could not care for herself, had a fever with temperature over 105 degrees, and was emaciated, weighing less than 80 pounds. The authorities did not want repercussions from Ms. Zhao's critical condition, so they finally released her on medical bail to her family.

When Ms. Zhao was first taken to the forced labor camp, she was fine, and had good agility. She was helpful to others. After her right arm was injured, she still helped others to get water and clean the room. In less than a year, the guards in Hebei Provincial Women's Forced Labor Camp tortured her to the brink of death.

Those responsible for Ms. Zhao's persecution include Wang Xin, captain of the third brigade, captain Lv Yaqin, Shi Jiangxia, Wang Weiwei, Liu Ziwei and Dr. Ma.
