A Deceitful Person Becomes Good by Following the Principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance

Sept. 21, 2012 |   By a practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) Before I practiced Falun Gong, I was always preoccupied with personal gain. I told more lies than truths, and only helped others when it suited me. I also loved smoking cigarettes and gambling. People knew that I was a cunning, crafty and sly person. In October 1998, I started practicing at the age of 23.

When I watched the video of Teacher’s Fa lectures for the first time I fell asleep, and woke up as soon as Teacher finished the lecture. It was just like Teacher said:

“It is because their brains have illnesses that need to be treated. One will be unable to stand it if one’s brain is worked on. Therefore, one must be put into a state of anesthesia or become unconscious. Nevertheless, some people do not have a problem hearing me. Though they may sleep soundly, they hear everything without missing a single word. They will become energetic afterwards, and will not feel sleepy even if they go two days without sleep. There are different syndromes which all need adjustment. Your entire body will be purified.” (Zhuan Falun)

By following the principles of Falun Gong, I gave up smoking, gambling and telling lies. I considered others first when doing things and helped them sincerely. When I received counterfeit money in business transactions, I destroyed it regardless of its face value. I thought that if I let them go back into circulation, they would continue to cause harm to others. Whenever I saw stones or bricks on the road, I would clear them away to prevent someone from stumbling or being hurt in a car accident at night.

Provincial Police Newspaper wanted to write an article about me

The roads in our area are very rough and bumpy. One day in the winter of 2000, I rode a motorcycle along the provincial highway. When I reached the outskirts of the town, I saw many bricks scattered across the middle of the road that had fallen off tractors and could easily cause accidents. I pulled over by the roadside and started clearing away the bricks so that they didn’t block the traffic.

When I had nearly finished clearing away the bricks, a police car drove past. It then slowed down, turned round and came back towards me. Five people got out of the car, and one of them said that they were journalists from the Provincial Police Newspaper. He thought this was a really good deed I was doing, and wanted me to put the bricks back in the middle of the road, and then move them back to the roadside so that they could take pictures and write a newspaper report about me. I replied: “I am a Falun Gong practitioner. If I didn’t practice Falun Gong, I would not have cleared away these bricks. It’s so cold now. What kind of person would do such a good deed nowadays?” They told me that if I didn't say that I practice Falun Gong, they would do an article about me and put it in the newspaper. I replied: “If I didn’t practice Falun Gong, I would not have done this. I can't do that.” Seeing that I insisted on mentioning Falun Gong, they gave up and drove away.

Falun Gong Road”

Between October and November in 2000, it seemed to rain constantly. A two-kilometer stretch of road, made of gravel and soil, ran between our village and the town, and it hadn’t been maintained for many years. There are three paper mills in our village and four in the neighboring village, and with many trucks traveling back and forth, wheel tracks had been deeply embedded in the road, which became very muddy when it rained. I talked to a practitioner who owned a small tractor, and two others, and we decided to repair the road.

We drove the practitioner's tractor to a paper mill in our village and talked to the factory director. We told him that we are Falun Gong practitioners and volunteered to fix the muddy road. We then said that we would need some coal cinder from them, which we would like to pay for. The director could not believe that Falun Gong practitioners had come and wanted to mend the road for free, and said that we could take whatever we needed. Some workers helped us to load the coal cinder onto the tractor. We then went on to the next factory, and the directors there offered us coal cinder and all of their leftover bricks from building the factory.

Six villages used this road and people were constantly walking by. Some wondered if the village officials had asked us to fix the road, and wanted to know if we were getting paid. We were able to let everyone that stopped to talk to us know about Falun Gong.

When it was getting dark one time and we were about to drive home, a small tractor carrying fertilizer came toward us. As parts of the road we had just paved with coal cinder were still soft, the tractor got stuck. We tried to help the driver push it, but it didn’t work. We then tried to tow the tractor using the practitioner's tractor, but that didn’t work either. I then asked the practitioner to drive to the nearby artillery yard and ask them for a bigger truck. The practitioner thought that they may ask for money if we wanted to borrow their truck. I said, “Just tell them that we are the Falun Gong practitioners who volunteered to fix the road. If they ask for money, just pay them. It’s because we are mending the road that the tractor got stuck.” The practitioner then went to ask for a truck.

The driver of the fertilizer tractor understood that we were sincerely trying to help him, and offered us his cigarettes and addressed us as “elder brothers” (an honorable form of address). We declined his cigarettes and explained that we are Falun Gong practitioners. We also told him that it was not necessary to call us “elder brothers.” After a while, the practitioner returned with a high-powered military truck, which easily dragged this man's tractor out of the mud. The tractor driver was very touched and wanted to give us money, but we declined. We were able to clarify the facts to him about Falun Gong.

On our way back home, the practitioner driving the tractor told us that the commander from the artillery troop initially wanted 90 yuan to borrow the truck. However, when I told him that we were Falun Gong practitioners who had volunteered to fix the road, he said it was okay to take it if I bought the driver of the vehicle a little gift. The practitioner then spent 20 yuan and bought something for him, as a thank you.

During the days when we were fixing the road, passers-by and people from our village and neighboring villages were able to learn the facts about Falun Gong, and people from the local area started to call the road, “Falun Gong Road.”

In the summer of 2005, I took a taxi and drove on that road. I told the driver about Falun Gong along the way. He then told me that he once drove a fertilizer tractor and got stuck in the mud on this road. I didn’t tell him that I was one of the practitioners who had helped him. But before our arrival at the destination, I helped him to quit the Chinese Communist Party and taught him to recite, “Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”
