The Atrocities Committed in Zhengyang Police Station, Qiqihar, Heilongjiang Province: Practitioners Suffocated with Smoke, Force-fed Alcohol, and Hung Up

Jan. 13, 2013 |   By Dong Mei, a Falun Gong practitioner from Heilongjiang Province, China

(Minghui.org) I was illegally detained and tortured for more than a year, from early March 2005 to 2006. Here I am recording the atrocities I endured and witnessed during that time to expose the heinous crimes committed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

In early March 2005, officials from the Zhengyang Police Station in Qiqihar City arrested 68 Falun Gong practitioners. I was one of them. The police detained us and then interrogated us using different forms of torture. Nearly every practitioner was tortured with the “Big Hang Up.” The police hung us up with our hands cuffed behind our backs. In addition, they put lit cigarettes into our nostrils and suffocated us with smoke. We could hardly breathe. They also force-fed us alcohol. Despite the fact that I am a woman, several male officers grabbed me, shoved me down on the floor, and poured liquor down my throat.

I was subjected to the “Big Hang Up” six times within three days. The police hung me up during the day and then made me stand in a locked bathroom for the entire night.

Although my wrists were torn and bleeding due to the “Big Hang Up,” the police still handcuffed me behind my back to a heating pipe. They made me sit on the floor and then, with their full weight, stomped on my legs with the heels of their shoes. My legs were black and blue all over. They also told their new officers to do the same, saying, “This can only be done to Falun Gong practitioners. You cannot do this to the criminal offenders.”

Some female practitioners were sent to the “Demon's Building,” a nickname for the Qiqihar Police Department. The officers handcuffed practitioners behind their backs, hung them up in the air, and then swung them back and forth. For days afterwards the victims could not move their arms. Some officers even hung practitioners' legs up in the air with their arms hung up higher. They sat on practitioners’ legs and then pressed down until the practitioners' arms were taught and straight up and then the officers suddenly stood up. This inhuman torture caused practitioners severe pain, and the strain on their ligaments and tendons caused many lumps on their arms. The practitioners were eventually sentenced to forced labor or prison with terms ranging from 3 to 12 years.

During the more than one year I was detained there, I regularly saw practitioners being sent in to be brutally tortured. As I look back, the atrocities leap before my eyes, and I remember it all as though it were yesterday. This is what I experienced personally. By writing down what I saw, I want to expose the CCP’s evil nature and call for an end to this inhuman regime.
