Studying Master’s Commentary on “Are You a Cultivator?”

Jan. 2, 2013 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) Teacher said:

“I want to make something clear: It is not only the evil that is attacking Minghui with various means—when practitioners don't remove their human thoughts, they, too, play that damaging role. As for whether you can make it in cultivation or not, as long as the period for cultivation is ongoing there are opportunities for you to make it, but on the other hand, unknowns abound as well.” (from “Editorial: Are You a Cultivator? [With Master's Commentary]”)

It seems to me that Master has seldom issued warnings as serious as this in the past.

As I see it, the most important thing is that Master personally oversaw the creation of the Minghui website, and it is the designated and most trusted website for Dafa practitioners. Master’s articles are first published only on Minghui. As a practitioner, I have been a most devoted reader of Minghui for the past ten-plus years. I feel that Minghui has always been an important aid in my cultivation. Each individual’s enlightenment quality is limited, but through sharing thoughts and experiences on Minghui, practitioners are able to inspire, compare with, learn from, and cooperate with each other to establish an integrated cultivation environment. In this way all practitioners can catch up with the process of Fa-rectification that Master has arranged for us.

Aside from the time I was held in the dark dungeon of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), I have logged on to Minghui almost every day. Were it not for Minghui, I am not sure if I could have lasted until today because during the first few years of the evil persecution, I did not know how to cultivate. Only after reading many experience sharing articles from fellow practitioners did I truly realize what it means to trust in the Fa and Master, and how important it is to believe in Master and the Fa. I learned what righteous thoughts and righteous actions are. Cultivation has no role models, but experience sharing by fellow practitioners was always a force behind my steadfast cultivation. The progress of practitioners' cultivation as a whole is largely exhibited through Minghui. If it were not for Minghui, one would have to rely on one's own fumbling around, and it would make things one thousand times more difficult.

For sure, the articles on Minghui by practitioners can have errors. But these errors are not errors in and of themselves. As long as a cultivator’s article is rooted in cultivation, the error is only a limitation present at that level of cultivation. It is entirely different from those errors that fundamentally reject or attack Dafa. Only because everyone cultivates at his or her own level does there exist the need for comparing, sharing, and elevating. Since Minghui is a website that belongs to practitioners, it needs every practitioner’s support to uphold and improve it. If one attacks it, one will cause harm that even the evil cannot inflict. In such a case the old forces and the evil will be delighted while true practitioners will feel sad.

I have published many articles on Minghui; some of them were even selected in Minghui Weekly. But some of the articles that I felt were well written were not published. Sometimes I would feel unhappy – I had spent a great deal of effort writing the article, but Minghui just did not publish it. Sometimes I even thought, “Maybe my article is not agreeable with the notions of certain editors; Minghui should not be controlled by these few editors.” But when I cooled down, I knew that as a cultivator I still needed to look inward. I recognized that these thoughts were in fact my human thoughts evaluating the editors instead of thinking about the big picture. Pursuing the publication of articles revealed my attachments to showing off, validating myself, and jealousy. I thought, “Why is it that seeing the brutal persecution and life-and-death tribulations that practitioners have endured are still not sufficient for me to give up my attachments?” The beauty of the new cosmos is in its selflessness and unselfishness. Letting go of everything is the biggest gain and the most beautiful.
