Villager in Jian City Assists in the Arrest of Falun Gong Practitioners for a Bounty

Oct. 12, 2013 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Jilin Province, China

(Minghui.org) Xu Hai from Mati Village in Caiyuan Township of Huadianzi Town in Jian City, Jilin Province, assisted the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to arrest Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Li Yuanmei and Ms. Sun Jimei for a bounty.

Confrontation

On the evening of August 10, 2013, Ms. Li Yuanmei, 59, and Ms. Sun Jimei, 62, from Jilin City went to Mati Village in Caiyuan Township in Huadianzi Town to tell people about the CCP persecution of Falun Gong and give them information about it.

Xu Hai, a village resident, blocked their path and claimed that they had stolen some items. The two women revealed their identities and told him that the purpose of their visit was to bring blessings and to save the people there. As soon as he heard that they practiced Falun Gong, he made a ruckus and said he would report them to the police.

Authorities Summoned

The uproar that he created attracted the attention of many villagers. One told him to let them go. Xu Hai didn't listen. He borrowed a woman's cell phone and called Liu Zhenjun from the public security bureau in Caiyuan Township. Then he called the Huadian Police Station. Xu Hai asked them, “Will you give me a reward for seizing two Falun Gong practitioners?” They said, "Yes."

Xu hung up and turned back to the villagers and said, “We will all get money.” Then he turned to the two practitioners and tried to extort money from them. He said, “If you give me 10,000 yuan, I will let you go.” The two practitioners continued to clarify the truth but Xu didn't listen to them.

An officer from the Huadian Police Station called Liu Zhenjun, who told them they should get there quickly. Four officers from the Huadian Police Station arrived shortly, interrogated the two women, and started to do a humiliating body search. Ms. Sun Jimei stopped them. Everything was videotaped.

Officers from the police station in charge of household registration called and notified Ms. Li Yuanmei's family. Ms. Li's husband, Mr. Chi Yonggang, and her younger sister's husband called the Huadian Police Station and asked to put in a good word for her. They agreed to release Ms. Sun and Ms. Li, but the women would have to return to the police station to provide testimony the next day.

Taken into Custody

At about 9 a.m. on August 11, 2013, Li Hongwei, the director of the Huadian Police Station, and three officers went to Ms. Li's home and arrested Ms. Sun and Ms. Li. At the station, they were interrogated separately and ordered to sign documents. Ms. Li wrote, “Falun Dafa is good!” Ms. Sun refused to sign her name.

At about 3 p.m., the women were taken to the Domestic Security Division in the Jian City Police Department, where they were photographed and had their fingerprints taken. Ms. Li was taken to the Jian City Hospital and examined.

The two women were then transferred to the Jian City Detention Center. The staff on duty claimed that there was no room in the facility after hearing that they practiced Falun Gong. After consulting with the director, they agreed to accept Ms. Li. The Huadian Police Station released Ms. Sun, who is at home now. Ms. Li is still in the Jian City Detention Center.

Information on Ms. Li Yuanmei

Ms. Li had all kinds of health problems before she practiced Falun Gong. She consulted many doctors but to no avail. She had the good fortune to find Falun Gong in 1998, and she became healthy. She is eternally grateful to Master and Falun Dafa for saving her life.

Since the CCP started persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, she has told people the truth about the persecution. She has been arrested and persecuted three times. Twice she was detained.

Once she was taken to Changchun Women's Forced Labor Camp, where she suffered a mental breakdown within a month. She lost consciousness and fell into a vegetative state. The hospital examined her and documented her condition, issuing a medical certificate to that effect. The forced labor camp shirked its responsibility, notified her family, and sent her home. She regained consciousness after three months of attentive care and nursing by her family. She resumed practicing Falun Gong again and quickly recovered.

The CCP's campaign of persecution against Falun Gong has made Ms. Li's family have been made very fearful. Over the years law enforcement officials have harassed and intimidated them. The family feared being implicated and didn't dare stand up for her and defend her. They were told by the person they asked for help that both women would be released if their families went to the police station to make a "confession" and pay some cash.

So Ms. Li's family forced the two practitioners to stay at Ms. Li's home after they were released temporarily on August 10, 2013. After Ms. Li was taken away the next day and her medical records were submitted, the person told them that he could not offer any more help. Ms. Li is now being held in a detention center. Her family is very sorry they listened to the person they asked for help.
