64-Year-Old Woman Held in Tianjin Women's Prison

Oct. 18, 2013 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Tianjin, China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Shuhua, 64, is an employee of Bohai Petroleum Company in Tianjin. She was illegally arrested on September 18, 2012, and sentenced to a five-year prison term. She was taken to the Tianjin Women's Prison on August 24, 2013.

Ms. Wang was reported by a plainclothes officer on September 18, 2012, while she was talking to people about Falun Gong in Donggu. She was arrested by officers from the Nanjiang Police Department and Tanggu 610 Office.

More than a dozen officers broke into Ms. Wang's home that night. The police ransacked the place and confiscated Falun Gong books, pictures of the founder of Falun Gong, and several copies of truth-clarification materials. They even confiscated her daughter's computer and printer.

Ms. Wang's family went to the Tianjin Women's Prison in September to visit her. The family noted that her head and body were covered, and only a tiny portion of her face was exposed. Ms. Wang's daughter asked her if she had been beaten in prison. The guard who was standing nearby immediately replied, “No.”

“This place is ten times eviler than the prison where I was held before. At one point I no longer wanted to live. Of course I did not commit suicide, as I know that suicide is prohibited by the Falun Gong practice,” said Ms. Wang.

Ms. Wang's family believes that she was tortured in that prison.

Ms. Wang was previously sentenced to a three-year term in 2001. She has been arrested and detained seven times over the past ten-plus years of persecution by the Chinese communist regime.
