Police Steal a Quarter Million Yuan from a Falun Gong Physician

Oct. 4, 2013 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) Law enforcement officers from the Zhaoyuan City Domestic Security Team and Mengzhi Police Station in Shandong Province ransacked the home of Dr. Du Deyao at 6 p.m., September 12, 2013, and stole 250,000 yuan (US$40,665) as well as many person belongings.

Dr. Du is a Falun Gong practitioner and a physician in Beiling Village, Mengzhi District. His family was having friends over for dinner when several police officers showed up at his home. The officers showed their badges and ordered the family to open all the drawers and the safe without showing a search warrant.

When the officers saw cash in his drawer, they claimed it was “funds used for Falun Gong activities” and took the money.

The police also confiscated printer paper, computers, electronics, mobile phones, cameras, batteries, and a DVD player. According to Dr. Du's son, the police acted like bandits and took everything that was worth anything. They refused to answer any questions and interrogated Dr. Du's guests.

Dr. Du was not at home that night. His wife and son were arrested and taken to Mengzhi Police Station for interrogation. His son was released the next morning.

Mr. Du's wife, Ms. Wang Baolian, was transferred to the Zhaoyuan Domestic Security Team for interrogation. The police denied her family's request to see her or to deliver food or a change of clothes.

Ms. Wang is now being held in the “legal education center” in Lingnan Gold Mine, Linglong Town, Zhaoyuan City. This facility is a brainwashing center, where practitioners are pressured to renounce their faith in Falun Gong in direct violation of China's Constitution that warrants its citizens the freedom of belief.

There were several witnesses to the looting and arrests. Their evidence will be used in legal actions against the police officers and their units.
