Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Tan Jinyun was illegally arrested by officers from the Buyunqiao Township Police Station and local 610 Office on October 21, 2013. She was later taken to the Hengyang City Brainwashing Center located at the Linghu Fishery Resort.

Zhou Wusheng from the 610 Office, Zhang Jun from the police station, and three of their subordinates went to Ms. Tan's home in Sanguan Village around 4:30 p.m. on October 21, 2013. She was out in the field working at the time. The five officers lied to her daughter-in-law, saying that they only needed to ask Ms. Tan a few questions. Her daughter-in-law was deceived and helped them to find her mother-in-law.

The police continued to lie to Ms. Tan when they saw her and said that they needed to take her to the police station so they could ask her a few questions. She was taken to the Hengyang City Brainwashing Center at 7:00 that evening.

According to reports, Ms. Tan is being held at the Linghu Fishery Resort behind the Hengyang City 169 Hospital, though the exact location is unknown. Of the five who participated in her arrest, three were male and two were female officers from an agency in Qidong County.

At the brainwashing center, Ms. Tan went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The authorities disregarded the law and assigned a doctor to force-feed her. Officials at the brainwashing center also stated that they were determined to “transform” Ms. Tan.

We call on people inside and outside of China to help rescue Ms. Tan and also hope to hear from anyone who has more information about her whereabouts.

According to reports, the police will continue to harass local Falun Gong practitioners and have planned to arrest three more. We hope that practitioners in Qidong County will pay attention to their personal safety and strengthen their righteous thoughts in order to prevent more crimes from being committed against practitioners.
