Practitioner Denied Family Visits in Prison

Nov. 30, 2013 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Henan Province, China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xing Aixiang, in her 50s, was illegally sentenced to a three-year prison term and her family was not notified. She was taken to the Xinxiang Women's Prison in Henan Province earlier this year. Her family went to the prison but was not allowed to see her.

The Jincheng Property Management Company staff claimed they were there to collect the water bill, so Ms. Xing opened her door on December 7, 2011. Instead, officers from the Zhengzhou Domestic Security Division came in and arrested her. The officers confiscated two computers, an MP3 player, a printer, and other personal belongings. Ms. Xing was taken to the Wanqing Village Brainwashing Center, and then transferred to the Zhengzhou No. 1 Detention Center.

Ms. Xing's family went to the detention center many times to visit her and bring her extra clothes and other daily necessities. Their requests to visit were turned down, and they were very worried her. The police also threatened Ms. Xing's husband.

Ms. Xing was taken to court twice in 2012. The court did not allow her family to hire a lawyer but appointed one for her.

The Jinshui District Court sentenced Ms. Xing to a three years in prison on February 20, 2013. She is being held at the Xinxiang Women's Prison in Henan Province. Her prison term is supposed to end in July 2014. However, the prison authorities extended her term to October 2014.

Ms. Xing was arrested and her home ransacked in 2009. She was sentenced to one year and taken to the Shibalihe Women's Prison. She was released after prison authorities extorted tens of thousands of yuan from her family.
