Mother Treated Well in Detention Because of Teaching Her Non-Practitioner Daughter Falun Gong Principles

Dec. 20, 2013 |   By a practitioner from Shandong Province

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners should live by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Not only that, they should also encourage their non-practitioner family members, especially their children, to live by those principles.

Master said:

“Zhen-Shan-Ren is the Sole Criterion to Discern Good and Bad People”(“Zhuan Falun”)

“As a human being, you are a good person only if you can follow this universe’s characteristic of Zhen-Shan-Ren. A person who deviates from this characteristic is truly a bad person.” (“Zhuan Falun”)

My daughter graduated from college soon after I started practicing Falun Gong. My daughter told me, “One of my colleagues always speaks ill of others, telling A that B is bad and B that A is bad. She also reports others to the supervisors and spreads rumors out of jealousy and wanting to look better. Everyone dislikes her very much.” I asked her, “Did she say something against you?” My daughter replied, “Yes. It was so annoying.”

I had taught my daughter to live by the Falun Gong principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I told her to remember that it doesn't matter how we are treated, we should never get angry. We should respond with compassion and use virtue to dissolve hatred.

I explained to my daughter that the woman was only harming herself. My daughter accepted this wisdom, although she was not a practitioner. Since then, my daughter was the only person in the office who still spoke to that woman.

The woman was diagnosed with stomach cancer and hospitalized. No one except my daughter volunteered to visit her in the hospital and deal with her medical insurance on behalf of the company. My daughter is very kind, and she broke into tears whenever she saw the woman's one year old baby, who was about to lose its mother. After the woman passed away, my daughter helped her family with the funeral on behalf of the company.

A Non-Practitioner Faces Adversity Like a Practitioner

The company had financial difficulties. The director of my daughter's department left the company for a better job, so my daughter who was the vice director at that time, temporarily took charge. She had hoped to be officially promoted to the position soon. Instead, the company recruited a graduate student who was four years younger than my daughter to be the new director.

In my daughter's eyes, the new director was very capable and good at foreign languages. But, she was upset that she had become the director and was thus superior to her. I comforted my daughter, “We should learn from people who are better than us. Never feel jealous. You should cooperate with her and support her work.” My daughter relented and they worked well together. My daughter also learned a lot from this new director.

My daughter works for a private high tech company. I told her that we should be grateful that they offered her the first job she ever held, and treat the company as if it were her own. When the company encountered financial difficulties, many staff members left for better paying jobs. Another high-tech company offered her 100,000 yuan a year with an apartment as a bonus. She was earning only 24,000 yuan at that time.

She asked my husband and I for advice. We told her, “This company gave you your first job and lots of training. You should not leave at its most difficult time. Especially, do not be taken in by a high salary. As long as you are not laid off, you should work together with your colleagues to overcome the difficulties. Then you will be the most outstanding employee.” My daughter followed our advice and stayed with the company.

Treated Well By Police and in Detention

A few years after these incidents, I was arrested by an officer from the 610 Office. When my home was ransacked, a policeman grabbed my cell phone. I told him, “You cannot take it, it belongs to my daughter.” He wanted to know why I had her cell phone and I told him that it was her backup phone, which I use when I go out. He asked for my daughter's name and workplace, which I told him. He said, “Ah, I know her.” Then he returned the cell phone, which was fortunate since it stored the phone number of a practitioner who taught me computer skills.

My husband and I were taken to a detention center, but the vice director refused to accept my husband since he was in his 70's and still recovering from a stroke.

The guards were very kind to me after I spent two days there. They replaced my old comforter with a new one. A policewoman even called me to her office and asked me lots of questions. I clarified the truth about Falun Gong to her. One night, I covered my double-crossed legs with clothes and slept on top of it after I sent forth righteous thoughts at midnight. A police officer on duty said, “How come the grandma fell asleep during meditation? Wake her up and tell her to continue!” I was very happy after hearing this. So I sat up and meditated for two hours without feeling sleepy at all.

I protested the detention with a hunger strike. After three or four days, the police seemed to be very worried. They told me that they already called the 610 Office to urge my release because they did not want my life to be in danger.

Rewarded For Non-Practitioner Daughter Helping Others

I was released on bail on the seventh day. My daughter told me the entire story after we returned home. The officer who brought the police to arrest me was the husband of the woman who died from cancer! My daughter did not know that he was the person who arrested me. She begged him with tears in her eyes to release me. She told him how I recovered from serious illnesses after I practiced Falun Gong. She also told him that my husband had a stroke and needed me to take care of him. When I was released, this police officer helped my daughter and son-in-law take me home from the detention center, and even completed the paperwork.

My daughter also told the new director about my arrest, who in turn immediately reported this to the vice president (VP). She told my daughter, “The wife of a classmate of mine works in the detention center. I will call him and ask his wife to take care of your mother, and make sure your mother is not mistreated.” Soon my daughter was told not to worry, “The grandma is under special care!”

The VP immediately reported my arrest to the president of the company. My daughter rarely contacted him, but he called my daughter directly. He asked about my situation and then promised, “Don't worry, I will take care of it!” This company is a big taxpayer in this city and its president is a municipal Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) member! Several days later, he called my daughter and said, “Go pick up your mother tomorrow afternoon.” The 610 Office also notified my daughter on the second day that I would be released.

These incidents made me realize that although we absolutely did not expect rewards by following the Falun Dafa principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, our good deeds were rewarded.

My daughter's company also developed very well during recent years. It not only has four branches within China, but has also issued stocks on the international stock market. The director was promoted to VP. My daughter was at first promoted to replace her, and then became supervisor of a company-wide department. Her annual salary is already over 100,000 yuan. Isn't this a reward for her protecting Falun Dafa practitioners?
