Dec. 22, 2013 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Henan Province,China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Yang Liu of Huaiyang County in Henan Province and her younger brother Mr. Yang Qi were illegally arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division on July 25, 2013. They were sentenced to four years in prison.

Adults and Children Arrested

More than ten police officers from the Huaiyang County Domestic Security Division broke into Ms. Yang's home in Dongying Village, Yamen Township on February 29, 2012, by tearing down a section of the courtyard wall. Once inside, they ransacked the place and yelled at and hit everyone they saw.

At that time, Mr. Yang Qi; his sister, Ms. Yang; her two children; their younger sister; and their younger sister's husband and two children were all there. The police arrested everyone and confiscated 100,000 yuan in cash, electrical appliances, tools, bank deposit cards, bank cards, and the children's lucky money (money given to the children in red envelopes as a Chinese New Year gift.) The confiscated items were estimated to be worth approximately 300,000 yuan.

Many villagers witnessed the outrage and saw the police pushing eight people into the police car. Ms. Yang's older brother went to her home and asked the police why they were arresting his family. As a result, the police went to his home, ransacked it, and confiscated everything, including a bank card and more than 70,000 yuan in cash.

Tortured and Fined

At the Domestic Security Division, the police roughed up everyone to try to extract a confession, including the four young children, who all had bruises on them.

Ms. Yang and her brother were in critical condition because of the torture. To avoid being held responsible for Ms. Yang and her brother, the police extorted 40,000 yuan from each of them before releasing them on medical parole. Ms. Yang's younger sister and her husband were fined more than 30,000 yuan each and detained for 15 days.

The police tried to keep the items they took from Ms. Yang's home. To try to cover up their crime, they constantly harassed, intimidated, and threatened her and her younger brother.

Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Yang was later notified by the Domestic Security Division to come “erase” her arrest record, but she refused to go. Ms. Yang and her brother were arrested again on July 25, 2013, and sentenced to four years in prison.
