(Minghui.org) On the morning of November 9, 2012, Ms. Hu Shengcun, 52, from Harbin, was arrested by the Nanma Police for giving away Shen Yun DVDs on Jingyang Street in the Daowai District. Her home was ransacked and belongings stolen. She has been in a detention center for nearly three months. On January 7, 2013, her family went to the detention center to bring her some supplies. After the police took them, her family waited for a long time but were not given a receipt for the goods.
Survived after Practicing Falun Dafa
Hu Shengcun used to work for the Slum Upgrading Office of the city. She is kind and cheerful. She was born with a great voice, and her singing touched everyone who heard her.
She was devastated when her husband left her for her own friend. She was depressed for more than three years, living a difficult life with her little daughter.
In 2005, a friend offered her some Falun Dafa books. Her friend told her that Falun Dafa was a great teaching that had spread all over the world, that it could bring physical health and make one strong. It explained the purpose of coming to this world and the meaning of life. She read Zhuan Falun and began to practice Falun Dafa.
After she started practicing, Ms. Hu changed completely. She does not hate or cry anymore. Without hate or the desire for profit and fame, she emerged from the shadow of divorce and regained her health and peace of mind.
Knowing the benefits of Falun Dafa, she wanted to share this good message with everyone who knew her. In 2008, she saved several months' salary, bought gifts, and took a train to see her ex-mother-in-law. Her former in-laws did not expect her to visit them with gifts, since they were no longer legally related, but the hatred turned into compassion. They were very touched after witnessing the power of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance that was able to turn her into a selfless person.
Ms. Hu's older sister became mentally ill more than 20 years ago because of her failed marriage. Her family did not want to take care of her, so they took her to a senior home. After Ms. Hu started to practice Falun Dafa, she wanted her sister to benefit from Dafa, so she brought her to her home. When it was cold, she bought clothes for her sister and made warm pants for her. To treat her illness, Ms. Hu often travelled long distances to find doctors or get medicine for her sister. Her sister did not understand how much Ms. Hu did for her. Oftentimes, she smashed things, wasted food, and yelled for no reason. Ms. Hu did not argue with her and continued to care for her. Ms. Hu often let her sister watch the Shen Yun shows and listen to the Shen Yun Chorus. Gradually, miracles happened. Her sister was able to sing many Dafa songs, read Zhuan Falun, and communicate normally with people. She became better and better.
Arrested for Spreading the Truth
On the afternoon of May 13, 2011, Shangzhi Police arrested Ms. Hu on the street. That night, a large group of policemen broke into, ransacked, and robbed her home. Her sister was there alone, and had a relapse after this incident.
Two weeks later, Ms. Hu returned, but her sister had already become mentally disordered. She sat on the bed all day long talking to herself. Later, Ms. Hu found a job and could no longer take care of her sister at home. She found a good senior home. Despite the high cost, she sent her sister there, visited her frequently, and brought her necessities.
On November 9, 2012, when Ms. Hu was out distributing DVDs, she was arrested by the Nanma Police Station in the Daowai District. The police also confiscated her cart and tablet PC. Many people from the police station and the neighborhood committee later broke into and ransacked Ms. Hu's home. Her brother was there and opened the door unsuspectingly. These people rushed in, held her brother down on a couch, and confiscated Dafa books, pictures of Master Li, DVDs, a laptop, and TV set. It is not known what else police took. Ms. Hu's brother, who was not a practitioner, was taken to the police station and interrogated. He was not released until the afternoon. Later the family couldn't find the bank slip for them to pay the monthly bill for Ms. Hu's sister at the senior home. It was time to pay, but the family could not find the bank slip. The family asked the police on duty to ask Ms. Hu about it. The police told them it was in the drawer, but it was not there. The police saw the bank slip when they ransacked the home, then it was gone.
Family's Request for Ms. Hu's Release Prevaricated
In December 2012, Ms. Hu's sister-in-law, who works in Beijing, took time off work to go to Harbin. She visited the Nanma Police Station and the Domestic Security Division several times, asking for the release of Ms. Hu and the return of her property, including a TV set and a Mac laptop, but the police refused to return them. The police said, “The TV set is a criminal evidence, we cannot return it.” The laptop belonged to her daughter.
In the Domestic Security Division, the police refused to tell their names and who was in charge of the case. When asked what kind of crime Ms. Hu committed, they replied, “She is against the Communist Party,” and the actual so-callled crime was “Undermining Law Enforcement with an Evil Cult.” They also said Ms. Hu said, “I am not guilty. Falun Dafa is good.” One staff member said, “It is really annoying to talk to her. She even asked me to quit the CCP. After the conversation went on for a while, she started to sing. Every time we interrogated her, we got nothing. This case cannot go anywhere.”
At the end of December 2012, when the family went to the Domestic Security Division in Daowai District, the police said, “This case does not belong to us anymore. It was transferred to the City Monitoring Department.”
On January 7, 2013, the family went to the detention station to deliver things for Ms. Hu. They waited for a long time after the police went to deliver them, but did not get any reply. Because they could not find the bank slip, the family asked to see Ms. Hu. The police said it had to be approved by the detention station, while the detention station said it had to be approved by the police in charge of the case. As of January 31, the family still has not seen Ms. Hu.
During the mass arrest of practitioners on December 31, 2011, Ms. Hu's son-in-law's parents, Mr. Zhang Shengguo and Ms. Hou Yinghua, were arrested and sentenced to nine years in prison. Mr. Zhang is now in Hulan Prison and and Ms. Hou is in Heilongjiang Women's Prison.
Now, within a year, Ms. Hu has been arrested again. Their children are all in other countries.
We hope everyone can help stop the persecution of these kind people and secure the immediate release of Ms. Hu Shengcun and all Falun Dafa practitioners.
