(Minghui.org) Ms. Han Zhongcui, 54, a Falun Gong practitioner who worked for the local community management committee at the Lanzhou City Railway Station, was arrested in late July 2012 and held at the No. 13 Team in Jiuzhou No.1 Detention Center in Lanzhou City. She has been illegally detained for more than six months, and as a result, her mentally disabled son has been without his mother's care.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Han Zhongcui

On January 30, 2013, Ms. Han's family members went to the No.13 Team in Lanzhou No.1 Detention Center to visit her; however, they were denied visitation, and her family couldn't find out where she was. On February 2, her family tried to find people from the Lanzhou City Railway Station Community Management Committee to help them find Ms. Han. Director Ma interrogated them as if he were checking their I.Ds. He also threatened them by saying that they'd give Ms. Han a prison sentence. When they found Chen Zhikai, who is from the Domestic Security Division in Chengguan District, Lanzhou City to look for Ms. Han, Chen lied to them by saying that he wasn't responsible for helping them. He also pushed Ms. Han's family out the door twice.

Arrested While Cooking at Home, Her Family Members Couldn't Find Her Whereabouts

At the end of July 2012, Ms. Han suddenly disappeared. A month later, her family from the countryside learned about her situation and came to Lanzhou City to look for her. When they opened the door of her home, they were shocked by the scene inside. The apartment was a mess: a pot of cooked rice had already become moldy, some of her cut vegetables were lying on the cutting board, and some were lying on the floor. It looked as if Ms. Han had been arrested in the middle of cooking. Some of her personal belongings had also been confiscated.

Not until October, when Ms. Han's family members were making inquiries, did they learn that Ms. Han had been arrested and held at the No.13 Team in the Jiuzhou No.1 Detention Center in Lanzhou City. As of now, she has been held for more than six months.

Her son is mentally disabled. Even though he is 23 years old, his mental capacity is only equivalent to that of a five or six-year-old child. He cannot take care of himself, and has been taken care of by his mother. Ms. Han's husband, Zhang Zhifu, works in Lanzhou City, and hasn't provided them with a living allowance for many years. Ms. Han has been living with her son in a low-income area. They live in a one-bedroom apartment, with windows and doors in such poor condition that the wind comes in through the home at all times. There are no heating facilities in the apartment, either.

After Ms. Han was arrested, her husband sent their son back to his hometown to have his mother take care of him. However, as she couldn't even take care of herself, how could she possibly take care of her grandson? She locked him inside the courtyard and had him run around at all times. Later, the young man was sent to his uncle, but he didn't want to take care of him either. This poor man cried every day. As soon as he saw anyone, he would grab them and start shouting: “Let's go find Mom, bad people arrested her, bad people arrested her!”

When her family members from the countryside went to the Lanzhou Railway Station Community Management Committee and asked for Ms. Han's whereabouts, Railroad personnel gave them the runaround: “You should go talk to Chen Zhikai from the Domestic Security Division, or talk to her husband, as all the paperwork was given to him.” They called Ms. Han's husband, but he wouldn't meet with them, nor did he provide them with the paperwork.

Employees from the Jiuzhou No.1 Detention Center didn't allow Ms. Han's family members to visit her or bring her any necessities, which meant that she could only buy needed items from inside the detention center, where everything is much more expensive. Ms. Han's family had no idea of her situation. Later they found out that in August 2012, Ms. Han was held at the Taoshuping Detention Center in Lanzhou City. As she refused to wear a prison uniform [because she is not a criminal and has broken no laws], she was cruelly beaten. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel created a trumped-up case to further persecute Ms. Han and submitted it to the court, in an attempt to bring her to trial.

Ms. Han had already been subjected to persecution by the Communist Party. Because of this, her family was ruined, she was badly traumatized both mentally and physically and she has had much difficulty in making a living. Her family is worried about her safety. Her mother, who is in her 80s, cannot sleep well, nor eat well. She is very weak and has been looking forward to her daughter's return.

Subjected to Persecution by CCP Authorities

Ms. Han Zhongcui worked at the Chengguan District Railway Station Community Management Committee in Gansu Province. Because of her belief in Master Li and Dafa has never wavered, she has been subjected to persecution by Di Ying, her mananger, Wen Zhaojun, ex-secretary of the CCP Committee, Dong Jianmin, head of the 610 Office and other people who forciblyt took her away from her home to the district or municipal brainwashing centers for detention for a period of time. She also lost her much needed salary.

As soon as the persecution began on July 20, 1999, Di Ying, director of the local community management committee, prevented Ms. Han from working. He forced her to watch lies fabricated by the media in an attempt to brainwash her. After Di failed to talk Ms. Han into giving up Falun Gong, she kept harassing her. In December 2000, Ms. Han went to Beijing to appeal to the government and clarify the facts about Falun Gong. Police officers arrested her and held her for 15 days, then notified her company and took her back to Lanzhou City. After that, Ms. Han was held at the Chengguan District Detention Center. Not until early June 2011, did they notify her family to come and take her home. During that period, Wen Zhaojun teamed up with others to make up some false receipts, to say that Ms. Han had incurred a hospitalization charge of 2,400 yuan in total, as well as other expenses, and then they deducted Ms. Han's pay by 8,000 yuan.

In 2002, Di and Wen led a group of people at 11:00 p.m. one night in January, to tie up Ms. Han with a rope, and take her to the Chengguan District Goulanshan Brainwashing Center. Ms. Han went on a hunger strike to resist the persecution. Eighteen days later, because of her physical condition, Di and Wen took Ms. Han to her hometown in the countryside.

In 2003, because the CCP officials kept coming to their home to harass and take his mother away, Ms. Han's older son, who attended junior high school, was under extreme stress. He worried about his mother every day, until he couldn't continue with his studies and ended up leaving school. One day in May of 2003, Di and Wen broke into Ms. Han's home to force her to give up cultivation, but in vain. The next day, they took Ms. Han to the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center to persecute her. Ms. Han was tortured to the point that she couldn't eat, and vomited anything she took in. Two months later, she developed migraines, and had trouble walking. Finally, Di and Wen let her go home and sent someone to take care of her for nine days. After that, they used the excuse of being short of manpower and stopped providing care for her.

After returning home, seeing how her son had been so traumatized, she almost collapsed. In order to have some money, he had sold all their home appliances. Their front door had been damaged by people from her company when they broke into her home, so he'd used a stick to prop up the door. Ms. Han's health did not get better, as her abdomen was swollen and very hard. She couldn't help crying. When the neighbors overheard her, they gave her a hand. Later when her relatives learned about their situation, they took Ms. Han and her sons to live with them in the countryside.

One day in September 2003, Di and Wen led some people to break into Ms. Han's home in the countryside. As she still had trouble taking in food, she had become emaciated. She was lying in bed, needing others to take care of her. Di and Wen dragged her out of bed, put her in their vehicle and took her to the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center again. Under the instigation of the person in charge of the Brainwashing Center, Shan Yongsheng, as soon as Ms. Han came in, she was put in solitary confinement and subjected to brutal torture. They hung her up by handcuffs for over a month. Ms. Han was badly injured, and needed help at all times. When she was carried out of the brainwashing center, she was aont the brink of death. She couldn't move her limbs, and she was fecal incontinent. After a while, after her health improved, she was subjected to further persecution.

In December 2004, as Ms. Han refused to follow the unreasonable demands of the newly appointed head Qi Ruijun, Qi ordered that Ms. Han be thrown into solitary confinement for more than seven months. Qi and Sun took Ms. Han to solitary confinement several times. There she was forced to stand up days and nights with both of her hands handcuffed, sometimes behind her back, or she had to sit on the ground while handcuffed. Sometimes she was in so much pain that she fainted. The brainwashing center personnel put unknown drugs in her food. They didn't allow her to drink water, nor use the restroom. When it snowed, they only allowed her to wear very thin clothes and made her sit on the ground while handcuffed. They forcefully injected her with drugs, deprived her of sleep for long periods of time and used other cruel means of torture in an attempt to break her will and force her to renounce Falun Gong. Ms. Han had to sleep on the ground while in solitary confinement with no heating facilities for the entire winter. Because of being handcuffed so much, her left arm was dislocated, her right hand sustained nerve damage, and a bone in her back was fractured as well. As a result of the brutal persecution, Ms. Han eventually couldn't stand up. When people from the brainwashing center sent someone to take Ms. Han for an examination at Lanzhou Ground Forces General Hospital, it turned out that her nerve was irreparably damaged.

One day in December 2004, Qi Ruijun ordered a doctor to inject poisonous drugs into an apple, and then had a collaborator give it to Ms. Han. After she finished eating it, a guard had a talk with Ms. Han, and mentioned: "It's hard to tell how much time you have left." After the guard left, Ms. Han felt suspicious. She quickly spit out a red sticky substance. Soon enough, the collaborator brought another apple to eat. She didn't really eat it, but rather kept it in her mouth. After the collaborator left, she spit that one out as well. At that time, she heard the collaborator tell the guards: "She ate it again."

In July 2005, Ms. Han was held in solitary confinement, with collaborators Qin Hongxia, Li Xiaohong, and Ju Youhua watching her around the clock. When they saw Ms. Han doing the Falun Gong exercises, they folded her arms behind her back and hung her up, torturing her around the clock. As a result, Ms. Han's arms were dislocated. Sometimes she had to soil her pants, as she was not allowed to use the toilet. Ms. Han had been handcuffed with her arms behind her back for 45 days. In the winter of 2005, she was put in solitary confinement for four months, where her arms were dislocated again.

On January 1, 2006, when it was snowing very hard, people from the brainwashing center forced practitioners to go outside to shovel the snow. Ms. Han refused, so Qi Ruijun ordered security officers Wei Yichuan, Yang Jigang and others to forcefully push Ms. Han, who was wearing very thin clothes, outside, and as a penalty, forced her to stand outside for a long time. He also ordered them to force Ms.Han to shovel snow by beating her with brooms. Qi ordered the officers to handcuff Ms. Han and other practitioners to steel rails for five hours. They didn't give Ms. Han any food either.

In March 2006, Ms. Han was doing the exercises, and fellow practitioner Mr. Niu Wanjiang refused to run. Qi threw both of them into solitary confinement and had officers hang them up again. Qi also had collaborators Qin Hongxia, Ju Youhua, Chen Xiaoqiang and Zhou Bing watch them around the clock. When they went on hunger strikes, Qi ordered doctor Wang Yuquan, nurse Ma Xin and Yang Qinglian to force-feed them around the clock. A few collaborators had been torturing them by hanging them up by their handcuffs. Every time that Ma Xin, came over, she always told the collaborators: "Tighten up their handcuffs, watch them closely, and don't slack off." Not until near the May first public holidays, did they release Ms. Han and Mr. Niu from solitary confinement.

During the summer of 2006, Qi had Mr. Zhang Tao, Mr. Guan Ziping, Mr. Qian Shiguang, Mr. Niu Wanjiang, Ms. Han Zhongcui, Ms. Du Lanping held in solitary confinement. Everyone was held in a different room, their hands handcuffed behind their backs and they were left to hang from a bunk bed around the clock. They couldn't sit down, nor could they stand up, but could only half squat. Collaborators Liao Yongtian, Chen Xiaoqiang, Qin Hongxia, Ju Youhua were constantly watching them. Only during the lunch break were their handcuffs opened. Qi Ruijun, Quan Run, Sun Qiang and Wang Guilan had been playing mah-jong either next to the solitary confinement section or at the entrance, while watching the practitioners. Periodically, they ordered collaborators to check whether the handcuffs were tight enough.

During the second half of 2006, the Political and Judicial Committee sent a team specializing in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners to commit evil deeds far and wide. In mid-October, they visited Lanzhou secretary, Luo Xiaohu, of Lanzhou Province. The Political and Judicial Committee led secretaries from the Political and Judicial Committees of various cities, heads of the 610 Office, Zhang Xingzhong, Zhang Mingquan (female), Wang Shuangquan, and Fan Lanqin from the judicial system, about 100 people in total. Half a month earlier, they started putting up political slogans and red carpet to welcome this team at the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center. They also video-recorded the whole process, and had them carry out so-called examination and guidance. Even doctor Wang Yuquan at the brainwashing center tried his best to please those people and took pictures with them.

In order to deal with the examination, Yun Yucheng and Qi Ruijun were also afraid that they couldn't cover up their evil deeds any more, so they had to release Ms. Han, who had been subjected to brutal persecution for more than three years and being starved for 43 days. In January 2007, Wang Guilan from the brainwashing center called Ms. Han's relatives and in a rude tone ordered them to come pick her up. Since there was nobody to take care of her where she lives, her relatives from her hometown had to come and pick her up.

As a result of the brutal persecution in detention, Ms. Han was very weak and badly injured. Her body felt heavy and she was unstable on her feet. She felt dizzy, her hands and feet were numb, her left arm was injured and hadn't recovered. She had nerve damage in her right hand and one of the bones was fractured.

From September 2003 until now, Ms. Han's salary was entirely withheld by personnel from the Chengguan District Railway Station Community Management Committee. Her relatives from her hometown have taken over providing Ms. Han and her sons with a living allowance.

Practitioners who are currently detained at the Jiuzhou Detention Center in Lanzhou City include: Ms. Lu Yueling, Ms. Chen Jie, Ms. Han Zhongcui, Ms. Sheng Chunmei and others.
