Freiburg, Germany: Petition Drive to End the Persecution Receives Great Support

April 20, 2013

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners held a petition drive in Freiburg, Germany, on April 13, 2013. They set up a booth with a picture display at a busy street intersection to inform the public of the brutal suppression of Falun Gong by the communist regime in China. The event received great support from the public.

Many people stopped to see the display of the persecution suffered by Falun Gong practitioners in China. They read the description under the pictures and shook their heads in dismay that such brutality could take place in this day and age. They were shocked to learn that thousands of Falun Gong practitioners have been killed for their peaceful belief over the past 14 years at the hands of the communist regime.

One passer-by asked, “Did a Nazi massacre happen again? This [the persecution in China] sounds even worse!” After learning the facts of the persecution, many people went straight to the booth to sign the petition.

A young man wanted to know how the Chinese economy could have prospered if the regime so blatantly disregarded human rights. A practitioner told him it was accomplished by exploiting workers' cheap labor and sacrificing the environment. The water and air in China are severely polluted; many children can't afford to go to school; and many cannot afford medical treatment. In the meantime, the Chinese regime has spent one fourth of its monetary resources on the persecution of Falun Gong. The young man nodded his head in understanding. He took a copy of the print materials to read at home.

A woman asked if the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was still tightly controlling the dissemination of information in China. A Falun Gong practitioner told her that the communist authorities filtered the information and controlled all state media. The regime has spent an enormous amount of resources to cover up the persecution of Falun Gong, and especially its crime of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners.

A scholar from China told the practitioners: “I read about it [the persecution] when I was in China. I even have a CD of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. Some Falun Gong practitioners like you distributed these materials. I know an elderly lady. She doesn't have any income, and her children support her. But she managed to save some money to make these CDs and brochures. It was not easy for her. I was very touched.”

He added: “People should read the materials that Falun Gong practitioners distribute. If you take a look at all sides of the story and think about it, you will see who is the liar and who is right. Even though the CCP's lies worked for a while, the Party won't last long. Didn't the former Soviet Union and other former communist power in Eastern Europe collapse one by one? I think China is at such a turning point, too. The Chinese society faces too many problems. It is too dark. It's just like North Korea. The root of the problem is the political system. The CCP has to collapse. There is no other way out.”

The scholar said he had to join the Party when he entered college. He and his classmates didn't have a bit of interest in joining its ranks, but the college required it. He happily quit the CCP and its affiliated youth leagues. Quitting the CCP and its affiliated organizations allows Chinese people to distance themselves from the Party and all of its heinous crimes, thus positioning themselves on the righteous side of history.

A young man from China currently residing in Switzerland also quit the CCP's Young Pioneers league on the spot. He took a copy of the informational materials for his parents.

He said: “If quitting the CCP and its organizations is so important, I can't let my parents miss it. They lived in China for many years and must have joined some of these organizations in the past.”
