(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhao Yu, from Bairin Zuoqi, Chifeng City in Inner Mongolia, and his wife Zhang Guizhi have been arrested twice. Their home was ransacked, they were detained, and tortured by police officers. Their four daughters, Zhao Guirong, Zhao Fuxia, Zhao Chunxia, and Zhao Chunhua were also subjected to persecution of varying degrees.
Zhao Chunxia's husband Jia Bin was forced to leave home in order to avoid further persecution. He was arrested on December 21, 2012, while installing a satellite dish for NTDTV, which is banned in China, for a villager in Aohanqi District. On February 8, 2013, police officers took Jia Bin to the detention center in his hometown for extended custody. These officers included Li Hongzhu and Tian Licheng from the Bairin Zuoqi Police Department. The police threatened to break up his family. Zhao Chunxia's three adolescent children wore slogans with the words, “I want my mother, I want to eat,” and held large signs carrying the message, “My mother was arrested by the police for practicing Falun Gong, my father has gone into hiding to avoid being arrested, the money in our house was looted, and we are homeless.” The three children were once detained by police and released only after a strong contention from relatives.
1. Harassed, Home Ransacked, Arrested, and Money Extorted
Six to seven officers including Ba Gen, head of the Bairin Youqi Domestic Security Division, as well as Chen Hongjiu, Wang Chenglin, and Da Lai, broke into Zhao Yu's house on February 16, 2002 at around 10:00 a.m. When they saw Falun Gong exercise tapes in the house, they went back to the police station to get search warrants, then ransacked the house. Zhao Yu was at home reading at the time. The police snatched the book Zhuan Falun from his hands. He was so anxious that he cried and pleaded with them not to take away the book. However, the officers ignored his plea and confiscated all of his Dafa books, two portraits of the founder of Falun Gong, two posters of the Falun emblem, and other belongings. They took him and his wife Zhang Guizhi to the Bairin Youqi Police Department.
Zhao Yu was detained for one day and one night, and Zhang Guizhi was transferred to the Bairin Youqi Detention Center, after spending one day in the police department. She was released after 21 days of detention and extorted of 1000 yuan.
2. Beaten and Tortured
One morning in May, four to five officers from the Bairin Youqi Domestic Security Division, including head Zhang Haitao, Chen Hongjiu, and Da Lai, forced their way into practitioner Zhao Guirong's (Zhao Yu's eldest daughter) house in Daban Town, Bairin Youqi. They ransacked the house and confiscated many Falun Gong books as well as over 50 copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. After that, they took Zhang Guizhi and Zhao Guirong back to the police department.
When Zhao Yu returned home in the afternoon, the police were waiting to arrest him outside the main entrance. They also arrested his father, and took them to the police department. That night, Chen Hongjiu and several other officers interrogated Zhao Yu. They wanted him to provide names of acquaintances, and those whom he had contact with. When he refused to divulge any information, an officer slapped him more than twenty times in the face.
At the police department that afternoon, an officer pulled out Zhang Guizhi's hair, strand by strand. Another officer came over and scolded her for quite some time. She was taken to another room that night and made to stand for the entire night with both legs tightly closed together. Whenever there was a gap between her legs, an officer kicked her. She was later sent to a labor camp for one year and nine months.
3. Persecution Suffered by Four Daughters
Zhao Yu and Zhang Guizhi's four daughters were subjected to varying degrees of persecution, including heavy prison sentences. Their two son-in-laws, Jia Bin and Wu Jingang, were also incarcerated.
(a) Zhao Guirong Arrested Three Times, Her House Ransacked, Sent to Labor Camp, and Imprisoned
Zhao Guirong was arrested in 2002. Her house was ransacked, and during the subsequent two years, she and her family were harassed countless times.
In early May 2005, Zhao Guirong was arrested again by officers from Bairin Youqi. Her house was ransacked and she was sent to a labor camp for one year and nine months.
Zhao Guirong was arrested again on April 6, 2010, while handing out Falun Gong brochures to people. Her house was ransacked and she was secretly sentenced to a seven-year prison term by the Bairin Youqi court. She is currently still incarcerated at the No. 1 Women's Prison in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia.
(b) Zhao Fuxia Arrested, Detained, and Beaten
Zhao Fuxia's house was ransacked on June 4, 2002. She was arrested, beaten, detained, and tortured with various instruments for an entire day. On December 11, 2012, she was surrounded and beaten on the street by five officials from the Bairin Zuoqi court for trying to rescue her younger sister. The officials dragged and abused her.
(c) Zhao Chunhua and Her Husband Unjustly Imprisoned
Zhao Chunhua's husband Wu Jingang was arrested at home by police officers from Bairin Zuoqi on June 6, 2012 at around 7:00 p.m. At around 1:00 a.m., officers drove him to the Bairin Zuoqi No. 2 Hospital and tried to perform a blood test on him. They stopped when Wu Jingang demanded to know why they wanted to draw blood from him even though he was healthy. He was sent to the Bairin Zuoqi Detention Center and detained for 15 days.
Zhao Chunhua was reported on January 30, 2013, while distributing calendars containing messages about Falun Gong. She was apprehended and detained at the Tianshan Detention Center in Ar Hoqin, Chifeng City for ten days.
(d) The Couple Zhao Chunxia and Jia Bin Severely Persecuted
On February 16, 2002, at around 10:00 p.m., Jia Bin and Zhoa Chunxia's house was turned inside out by police officers from Bairin Youqi. Jia Bin was arrested and detained for two days, and the police extorted 400 yuan.
Gao Yanguo from the Bairin Zuoqi 610 Office, along with Tian Licheng, head of the Domestic Security Division, and others, arrested Zhao Chunxia on June 4, 2012. They failed to arrest Jia Bin who was forced to leave home. The police looted 14,000 yuan, which was all the money they had left. Their three children at home had no money to live on and had to leave their apartment. They moved into Zhao Chunxia's elder sister's home. While leaving their home, the children cried, “Our parents are not around and our family is broken up.” Everyone present were sad to hear these words.
Zhao Chunxia's three children tried to rescue their mother on the morning of August 14, 2012. They wore slogans with the words, “We want our mother, we want food,” and held large signs carrying the message, “Our mother was arrested for practicing Falun Gong and we don't know where our father is. The money in our house was looted and we have no home to return to.” They walked to the Bairin Zuoqi government building, along the busiest streets in Lindong Town, Bairin Zuoqi. When they tried to enter the building, officials from the Bairin Zouqi 610 Office, Tian Licheng, head of the Domestic Security Division, political head Li Hongzhu, Gao Shujun, and others lead more than thirty police officers to surround the children. They dragged them into the building and locked them in the office without food and water. The three children were released at around 5:00 p.m., after strong requests made by their uncle.
Jia Bin wandered around from place to place and was arrested in Aohanqi on December 21, 2012 by police officers, while installing a satellite dish for a villager. He is currently detained at the Bairin Zuoqi Detention Center.
Over a month after Jia Bin's arrest, Zhao Chunxia was released, after seven months and 21 days of detention. She was penniless and had to live in her elder sister's already crowded house. While other families were celebrating the New Year, their family of eleven, young and old, had to live in a tiny apartment the size of less than ten square meters (about 107 square feet). Five children slept on two small beds, and the adults slept on the cement floor. Because they could not afford heat, it was very cold. The young and elderly cried. Those who saw their plight could not help but shed tears.
This is the persecution account of Zhao Yu, Zhang Guizhi, and their family of three generations, ten people. However, their experience is just one of many, who suffer from the Chinese Communist regime's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
