Ms. Luo Changyun, near 60, is a former English teacher at Yonghong Middle School in Ankang City, Shaanxi Province. Over the last 14 years, she has been subjected to forced labor three times and was sentenced to five years in prison, all for practicing Falun Dafa. Her father died of heartbreak due to her illegal arrest. Her mother became paralyzed. Her husband could not bear the police constantly harassing him and divorced her. Her two daughters were involved by association. She is now out of jail but is still being endlessly harassed.
Ms. Luo used to suffer a myriad of health problems, including rheumatoid arthritis. She hurt all over, and her fingers were deformed. She could hardly take care of herself. Those symptoms disappeared soon after she began practicing Falun Dafa in 1997.
Unfortunately, ever since the Chinese regime started to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners in July 1999, Ms. Luo has been repeatedly harassed by agents from the local 610 Office and officers from the Domestic Security Division.
Officers repeatedly harassed her at home and illegally searched it seven times. They took her two computers, three DVD players, an electronic book, several cell phones, multiple MP3 and MP4 players, her kids' stationary, and dozens of her teaching cassettes, as well as cash and bank cards. The total value of stolen goods is over 100,000 yuan.
The Ankang 610 Office also pressured her school. The school authorities stopped her salary when she was incarcerated in the forced labor camp. They did not let her return to her position after she was released.
Ms. Luo has been arrested eight times during the last 14 years. She was tortured in the detention center. She was shackled, tied and bound, paraded around the cells in a humiliating way, beaten savagely, and force fed brutally.
She has been subjected to illegal forced labor three times. One of those times was served outside of the labor camp. The other two times she was incarcerated in the Shaanxi Province Women's Forced Labor Camp in Xi'an City. She was repeatedly beaten, tied up, and hung up in the camp.
Just before the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Ms. Luo was listed as "wanted" by the Ankang 610 Office. Police officers arrested her in Guangzhou. She was sentenced to five years in prison and jailed in the Shaanxi Province Women's Prison. In the prison, she was beaten daily, force-fed and injected with unknown drugs, hung up, sworn at, deprived of restroom use and sleep, and forced to do hard labor. Prisoner Deng Yin stomped on her knees and really hurt them. It took her more than a year to recover.
During the 2001 New Year, she was jailed in the forced labor camp for the first time. Her father grieved so much because of the injustice she suffered and subsequently died due to heartbreak.
In 2006, her husband filed a divorce after police officers repeatedly searched their home and harassed him constantly.
In 2008, officer Wu Xingsheng interrogated her mother at home after Ms. Luo was arrested. The 80-year-old lady was terrified and incontinent. She became paralyzed afterwards.
Her older daughter found a job far away from home to escape the harassment. Her younger one is a student. She is scared and can't focus on her studies because of the harassment.
Ms. Luo was released in February 2013. She was not able to think coherently, had poor eyesight, and her fingers were deformed. Her family is now broken and she is still under police surveillance. Police officers even stopped her from visiting her daughter and grandson who live in another town.
