(Minghui.org) No. 261 Hospital of the People's Liberation Army, a mental institution, is located in Shahe, Shuangzhuang Town, Haidian District in Beijing. It is also known as Beijing Military Forensic Center for Mental Illness and Beijing Military Region Biotechnology Diagnosis and Treatment Center. The No. 3 Department of Brain is for female psychiatric patients. There are 22 general medical personnel. Patients get up at around 6:00 a.m., take a two-hour nap at noon, and have to go to bed at about 9:00 p.m. The doors are guarded 24/7.
The No. 261 Hospital is directly involved in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Several practitioners who refused to be “transformed” after undergoing forced brainwashing sessions are transferred to the No. 3 Department of Brain at the hospital. The doctors would ask a few questions as a formality, then hospitalize the practitioners against their will. The practitioners' family are then forced to pay for all related costs.
While detained, practitioners are tortured with electric shock. The hospital would then bill the family 500 yuan and state the electric shock was a “medical treatment.” Another so-called “treatment” used on practitioners is to use a headset-type device on the practitioner's head, causing the practitioner to lose consciousness. When they regain consciousness, they will feel very sick. Practitioners are also forcefully injected and fed unknown drugs. According to care workers (the hospital requires the family to use care workers), patients do not get to go out if they don't take their medicine. Patients have also revealed that the drugs are to make one lose one's memory.
Physically and mentally healthy practitioners have been tortured to the point that they have become emaciated, suffer convulsions, and have auditory and visual hallucinations. They also need help to get up and have blurry vision, body itchiness, weak voice, restlessness and an indescribable discomfort.
