(Minghui.org) Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Jiang Yan from Chongqing City was arrested more than six months ago because she clarified the facts about Falun Gong. She was then secretly sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison. Her appeal has been denied.
Ms. Jiang was distributing informational flyers about the persecution of Falun Gong in Baisheng Town on June 8, 2012 at around 9:00 a.m. when she was reported to the police by Yuan Qizhong, a former minister of armed police. As a result, she was arrested by officers from the Baisheng Police Station. After she was held for more than six months, a judge at the Fuling District Court illegally sentenced her to three-and-a-half years of imprisonment in November 2012. Her family members and relatives weren't notified of the trial or the sentencing.
Ms. Jiang has been arrested many times since the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999. In 2003, she was sentenced to four years of imprisonment for distributing truth-clarifying materials about Falun Gong.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s persecution has torn Ms. Jiang's family apart. Her husband was held at a forced labor camp for nine years. After he was released, he had a difficult time finding a job. The constant persecution has also been hard on Ms. Jiang's son. At one point during the 14 years of persecution, he was so depressed that he contemplated taking his own life.
