(Minghui.org) The two sides I am referring to are not those used by people who act differently in front of people than they do behind their backs. For practitioners, the two sides refer to our enlightened side (our original nature) and our human side. As Dafa practitioners during the Fa-rectification period, how often have we used our enlightened side to assist Teacher in doing the three things?
I recently re-read “Expounding on the Fa” in Essentials for Further Advancement. I realized that I hadn't quite understood the meaning of using my original nature to do the three things. It is clear to me that there is a huge difference in the outcome, depending on which side does the three things. During the Fa-rectification period, the side we use to do what Master requires is a critical issue. For me to understand this issue at this late stage reflects a low level of enlightenment on my part.
We need a human side to live in this world and to understand the Fa. Teacher said in “Expounding on the Fa:”
“In fact, Dafa is not only to save human beings—it is also taught to all the beings in different dimensions. Your enlightened, original nature will automatically know what to do. Cherishing your human side enables you to ascend in your understanding of the Fa.”
Our enlightened, original nature can help with the Fa-rectification. Teacher also said in “Expounding on the Fa:”
“As a matter of fact, this results from an inadequate understanding of the Fa by your human side. You have humanly restrained your divine side; in other words, you have restrained the parts that have been successfully cultivated and prevented them from rectifying the Fa. How can the uncultivated side restrain your primary thoughts or the side that has already obtained the Fa? Having humanly fostered the evil demons, you allow them to exploit the Fa. When a tribulation arrives, if you, as a disciple, can truly maintain an unshakable calm, or set your mind to meeting different requirements at different levels, this should be sufficient for you to pass the test. If it continues endlessly and if there do not exist other problems in your xinxing or conduct, it must be that the evil demons are exploiting the loopholes caused by your lack of control. After all, a cultivator is not an ordinary person. So why doesn't the side of you that is your original nature rectify the Fa?”
As Dafa practitioners during the Fa-rectification period, we all have “two sides.” We need to know how to use each side. The human side needs to learn to let go of all worldly temptations and live a decent life. The enlightened side should be doing the three things to complete our historical mission.
