(Minghui.org) After eight months of suffering in Beijing Women’s Forced Labor Camp, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Fengying was released last month when the camp was shut down. However, this wasn't the end of her persecution.
Back at home, she is still under tight surveillance. She is required to report to the labor camp every Wednesday by phone. Three weeks after she was released, two officers from the labor camp visited her home. They questioned her about what she did at home. They pressured her to stay home and said that if she had to leave, she was to report to them first.
When Ms. Zhang went to apply for a new identification card, she was turned down, because, according to the labor camp records, she's still serving her “term.”
Although Ms. Zhang was released from the labor camp, she is still being denied her civil rights.
Condemned by international society, some of the most notorious labor camps were disbanded recently, including Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp. Some practitioners were released, however they hadn't violated any laws and shouldn't have been detained or sentenced in the first place.
Some “released” practitioners have been transferred to brainwashing centers for further persecution. Some practitioners who were released and allowed to go home, like Ms. Zhang, remain under tight surveillance with limited personal freedom. Others are still serving their terms, but outside the labor camp.
Even though some of the labor camps have been closed, the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners continues.
