Practitioner Ms. Qu Jing To Be Tried--Family Hires a Defense Attorney

Sept. 19, 2013 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Guizhou Province, China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Qu Jing, born in 1974, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. She was illegally arrested by officers from the Xihu Road Police Station on November 8, 2012, and will soon be tried. She has been repeatedly detained in labor camps and prisons in the past, for a total of five and a half years.

The authorities did not notify her family after she was taken into custody. Her 76- year-old father had to travel between police stations and the courts for nine months before being told of his daughter's whereabouts. She had been sent to the Nanming District Detention Center in Guiyang City.

The case has been submitted to the Nanming District Court and is being reviewed by Judge Luo Shiyan. Ms. Qu’s father has hired a defense attorney from Beijing to represent her.

Her mother, Ms. Qu Yuxiang, was also persecuted for her belief in Falun Gong. She was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp in March 2001. The guards attempted to "transform" her using torture. She subsequently became unable to eat, suffered from a liver cyst and bile duct obstruction, and was left in critical condition.

To shirk their responsibility, the labor camp released her on medical parole in September 2003. The long-term persecution, however, had caused serious damage to both her mind and body. Ms. Qu Yuxiang's health began to deteriorate, and she passed away on July 10, 2011.
