(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Shijun was illegally arrested on the evening of September 17, 2013. Shahe City 610 Office agents took her to the Xingtai Brainwashing Center.
Ms. Wang's mother, Ms. Xie Xiulin, sought her release many times until it finally happened at the beginning of November 2013.
Ms. Wang Shijun and her younger sister, Ms. Wang Lihua, began to practice Falun Gong in 1997. They lived by the principles Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
However, since the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999, Ms. Wang's family has been through unimaginable suffering. The local police, with Wang Jianjun in charge, went to their home repeatedly to harass the entire family.
Fighting for the Release of Her Daughter
Ms. Xie Xiulin went to the Shahe City Police Department to ask the director of the domestic security division Hou Shouhong to release her daughter.
Officer Jia Jianchao, who was on duty when Ms. Xie arrived, claimed that the director wasn't there. She asked him why her daughter had been arrested. Jia replied, “We cooperate with the Xingtai City 610 Office to arrest those who practice Falun Gong.” Ms. Xie replied, “Lots of people practice Falun Gong worldwide. What is it wrong with living by Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance?” Jia did not reply.
Ms. Xie continued, “You have come to our home often to harass us over the past years. You even stole the money meant for a coffin for my mother. Don't you have a conscience?” Angered, Jia tried to push her out of the office, but other officers stopped him.
Ms. Xie went to the Xingtai Brainwashing Center three days later. No one answered the door. She knew that the head of the brainwashing center was Qiu Youlin, so she shouted, “Falun Gong practitioners are good people. Qiu Youlin, come out.” Some time later, someone opened the door, but they did not let her see her daughter. Ms. Xie then argued strongly on just grounds. In the end, she was allowed to see her daughter through a surveillance camera.
Ms. Xie sold her house in her hometown for 23,000 yuan when her mother was in her 90s in 2009. Officers Wang Jianjun and Hou Shouhong confiscated the money when they ransacked her home. Ms. Xie then went to the local police department frequently and asking for her money back, but was only given 6,000 yuan.
Older Daughter Ms. Wan Shijun Harassed and Tortured
Ms. Wang Shijun went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong in 2000. She was arrested and taken back to her hometown. She was held in the Handan No. 2 Detention Center for four months.
Ms. Wang Shijun was harassed in April 2009 by officer Wang Jianjun from the Shahe Domestic Security Division and Hou Shouhong. She refused to open the door for them. Officer Wang ordered a professional locksmith to open the door. He confiscated her computer, printer, Falun Gong materials, and personal belongings worth 20,000 yuan. They then took Ms. Wang to the Xingtai Brainwashing Center.
Ms. Wang was deprived of sleep for days and forced to listen to someone who vilified and attacked Falun Gong. She was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor a month later and transferred to the Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labor Camp.
Ms. Wang was made to do hard labor. Practitioners were not allowed to talk to each other and were given a quota. The head of the third team, Wang Xin, extended the working hours. Those who did not finish their work were not allowed to sleep. They were also forced to sing songs praising the Chinese Communist Party before each meal. If practitioners didn't sing or didn't sing loud enough, they were forced to get up and not allowed to eat. The guards went into their rooms to search every two or three days to prevent Falun Gong materials from being passed around.
Pregnant Younger Daughter Ms. Wan Lihua Arrested and Tortured
Ms. Wang Lihua, the younger sister of Ms. Wang Shijun, went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong in 2000. She was arrested, taken to her hometown, and held at the Handan Detention Center for two months.
She went on a hunger strike to protest the arrest and was force-fed. The management at her company unsuccessfully demanded that she renounce her belief after she was released. They also threatened that she would lose her job if she kept practicing Falun Gong. She refused to comply and was fired.
She was arrested again in March 2009 when she was about three to four months pregnant and taken to Xingtai Brainwashing Center by officers Wang Jianjun and Hou Shouhong. She was forced to listen to former practitioners slandering Falun Gong in an effort to have her give up the practice, but she refused to do so.
During her detention she was given yellow water to drink and the cell had a foul smell. She was released a month later. When her baby was born, it was covered with blisters and died. The doctor said, “I can't find anything wrong, but there is poison in the baby's body.” Ms. Wang later realized that she was poisoned in the brainwashing center.
