(Minghui.org) The Songhualing Brainwashing Center is located in Jiangyou City, Sichuan Province. It is housed in the guesthouse of the former Nuclear Engineering Unit No. 624. Many employees of the unit practiced Falun Gong.
According to inside sources, Falun Gong practitioners are detained at the Songhualing Brainwashing Center indefinitely. The center won't release practitioners until they sign the three statements to renounce Falun Gong.
Threats and Abuse
The staff at the brainwashing center uses all kinds of despicable means, including threats and prolonged sleep deprivation for days at a time, to force practitioners to give up their faith.
The guards also use different methods to persecute different practitioners. Some practitioners are forced to repeatedly watch slanderous videos or listen to slanderous propaganda that defames Falun Gong. Others are seduced by money and material gain. Some are threatened that harm will come to their families.
Falun Gong practitioners who have been persecuted at the Songhualing Brainwashing Center include Ms. Wu Qihui, Mr. Du Zhijun, Ms. Zhou Wenyu, Ms. Cai Guangyu, Ms. Fu Faqiong, Ms. Fu Fayu, Ms. Zhang Zhiying, Ms. Guo Jinzhen, Mr. Zhao Haiping, Mr. Wang Xianping, and Ms. An Yufen.
Behind the Guarded Walls
Shen Wen is the director of the brainwashing center. One or two monitors, under the direction of town or community officials, are assigned to every Falun Gong practitioner. The brainwashing center instructors are mainly community leaders or town government officials. Court staff also participates on as-needed basis.
A wall surrounds the guesthouse that houses the brainwashing center. A guard stands outside the main entrance. The brainwashing center is located on the first floor of the guesthouse; the second and third floors are said to be used for other purposes.
When detainees are being received, police stand at the entrance to the first floor; otherwise, they aren't seen there. Every room on the first floor is equipped with surveillance equipment.
