(Minghui.org) Mr. Zong Xunyong was cornered and could not move. The three guards who cornered him each held an electric baton. One shocked Mr. Zong's head, one shocked his upper body, and the other one shocked his lower body. They picked the sensitive places to shock, such as the inside of his ears, his neck, armpits, and the inside of his elbows and knees. The guards shocked Mr. Zong for several hours. His screams and cries could be heard throughout the prison.
Torture re-enactment: Shocking with electric batons
Guards Jiang Wei, Xia Jing and Li Song waited inside the guards' restroom in Tilanqiao Prison at 5:30 p.m. on November 3, 2011. They were waiting for the other guards to go home so that they could torture Falun Gong practitioner Zong Xunyong.
The guards’ restroom is designated as the place to torture practitioners because there were no security cameras inside.
Mr. Zong Xunyong, 46, used to work for the Pei County branch of the Bank of China. He was illegally arrested a few times after 1999 because he did not give up his belief in Falun Gong. He was sentenced to three years and six months in prison because he exercised his right to freedom and speech and posted truth clarification materials.
Forced to Sit on Plastic Tubes
Zong Xunyong was forced to stay in a small dark and damp cell without moving. He had to sit on a special stool which was made of hollow plastic tubes. The edges of the tubes were cut unevenly to increase his pain. He had to sit on these tubes from 4 a.m. until 10 p.m.
The prisoners monitored Mr. Zong to make sure he would not sleep. Prisoner Ji Haiquan made a whip. When he saw Mr. Zong begin to fall asleep, he used the whip to beat his face hundreds of times.
Tortures Endured
Guard Gao Jian did not let Mr. Zong eat for a long time, and he was always hungry and starving.
One day Gao Jian put on a pair of heavy boots and kicked the left side of Mr. Zong's abdomen. He passed out and was unconscious for a long time. Afterwards, he could not walk.
When Mr. Zong complained about the torture he suffered, he was tortured more severely.
Guards Gao Jian, Zhu Wenhua and Ji Haiquan poured cold water over Mr. Zong in 2011. They forced him to sit on the stool made of jagged plastic tubes and blew huge blowers on him to freeze him. He was tortured this way for more than two months.
Mr. Zong became very weak after being imprisoned and tortured for 239 days. Even his fingernails were all cracked and damaged.
Mr. Zong was released on October 28, 2013.
The persecution of Mr. Zong was premeditated. The guards went to his home when he was first detained. They found that his wife and elderly father were ill and were not physically able to appeal for him. Therefore, they persecuted him without any concerns.
They concealed the ways they persecute practitioners. Also, instead of detaining practitioners in one building, they were scattered to different districts. This made it difficult for their loved ones to find them, and almost no information about their condition or if they were still alive were known.
The guards encouraged the prisoners to torture practitioners. They offered them incentives: If the prisoners tortured the practitioners hard, their sentences would be shortened, and the guards would be promoted.
However, if practitioners died as a result of being tortured, the guards always shifted all the responsibility on the prisoners.
