1. [Jinan, Shandong Province] Four Practitioners Tortured in Prison

Ms. Huang Min, 70, was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment. She has been detained for over 12 years. On January 5, 2014, she went on a hunger strike to protest the abuse in the prison.

After the prison guards found copies of Falun Gong teachings in several cells, they forced Mr. Liu Ruping, Mr. Wang Zhansuo and Mr. Tang Peiwu to sit on tiny stools for prolonged periods of time. They also stripped the practitioners of their family visitation rights.

Ms. Zhao Lijun from Xuhui District was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment by the Xuhui District Court on December 11, 2013. She has been held in the Xuhui District Detention Center.

3. [Rizhao, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhao Chao Imprisoned

Mr. Zhao Chao was arrested by the Rizhao Economic Zone Police Department on the evening of April 18, 2013. He was incarcerated in the Rizhao Detention Center. While in detention, Mr. Zhao went on a hunger strike for over 50 days. He became extremely weak and could not walk normally. Around October, Mr. Zhao was sentenced to 3.5 years of imprisonment and sent to Jinan Prison.

4. [Jianshui County, Yunnan Province] Mr. Ma Xuyong Imprisoned

Mr. Ma Xuyong was arrested by officers from the Jianshui County Domestic Security Division on May 4, 2012. When he was arrested, the officers handcuffed him so tightly that the handcuffs pinched into his wrist muscles. When the police decided to release the handcuffs 10 hours later, they could not be opened. The police had to call in the firefighters to open the handcuffs with pliers.

Mr. Ma was sent to Yunnan Province No.1 Prison in April 2013. He was placed in solitary confinement.

5. [Ning County, Gansu Province] Ms. Lu Yinxia Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Liu Yinxia was recently sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment by the Qingyang City Court.

6. [Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Yin Gengquan Detained

Mr. Yin Genquan was detained for 10 days at the Nancheng Police Station.

7. [Shanghai] Mr. Wang Chao Detained

Mr. Wang Chao from Mancheng, Hebei Province, went to Shanghai to distribute informational materials about Falun Gong. He was arrested by officers from the Longhua Police Station in Xuhui District. Mr. Wang was held in the Longhua Detention Center for 3 months. The Xuhui District Police Department has now officially “approved” his arrest with plans to persecute him further.

8. [Yingshan County, Sichuan Province] Mr. Jiang Derong Arrested

Mr. Jiang Derong was planning to take the train from Nanchong to Yingshan on the afternoon of January 4, 2014. He was arrested when he was going through the security checkpoint at the train station.

9. [Wanzai County, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Guo Yunying and Ms. Peng Xiaoling Arrested

Police broke into Ms. Guo Yunying's home on the morning of December 30, 2013. They left upon seeing that she was not home, but came back later and arrested her. Ms. Guo was released around 4 p.m. the same day.

Ms. Peng Xiaoling was arrested when she distributed informational materials about Falun Gong on the morning of January 3, 2014. Police ransacked her home. Ms. Peng is being held at the Wanzai County Detention Center.

10. [Guangrao County, Shandong Province] Four Practitioners Detained

Ms. Li Shuxiang, Ms. Liu Xiaoyu, Ms. Li Huiqin and Ms. Cui Xiulian were arrested by officers from the Daozhuang Township Police Station on the morning of November 1, 2013. All four were detained.

Police extorted 5,000 yuan from Ms. Liu Xiaoyu, 2,000 yuan from Ms. Li Huiqin, and 2,000 yuan from Ms. Cui Xiulian. Ms. Li Shuxiang was the last practitioner to be released.

11. [Yutian County, Hebei Province] Ms. Gao Xiurong Arrested

Officers from the Linxi Township Police Station broke into the home of Ms. Gao Xiurong in Ximiwanghui Village on November 27, 2013, and arrested the elderly practitioner. They confiscated her Falun Gong books and took her to the police station. Ms. Gao was released that evening.

12. [Chongqing] Mr. Zhang Chengyou and His Wife Ms. Tu Ziying Arrested

Police officers from the Yunyang County Domestic Security Division, including Zhang Lin, searched Ms. Tu Ziying's store and home on the morning of December 31, 2013. They confiscated her computer, recorder, printer, two bank books, 13,000 yuan in cash, and 6,000 yuan worth of bills with messages about Falun Gong written on them. , and two bank passbooks.

The police arrested Ms. Tu and her husband, Mr. Zhang Chengyou, taking them to the police department. Mr. Zhang was subsequently released. Ms. Tu has been incarcerated in the county's detention center.
