Outstanding Entrepreneur Forced to Leave Home to Avoid Persecution, Family Sues Government Official

Jan. 27, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Hunan Province, China

(Minghui.org) Mr. Zeng Liwen, owner of a confectionery factory in Dongkou County, Hunan Province, and a Falun Gong practitioner, narrowly escaped an illegal arrest by plainclothes officers on March 31, 2013. He's had to stay away from home to avoid further persecution. His family was threatened by the police and their belongings confiscated. Their once prosperous family business has been forced to close.

His family is now suing Luo Meiguang, head of the local Political and Legal Affairs Committee, who is behind the persecution of Mr. Zeng and their family.

Mr. Zeng Escapes, His Family Is Threatened

Mr. Zeng was stopped by a group of plainclothes officers around 8:00 p.m. on March 31, 2013. They chased him to his house, surrounded his car, dragged him out, and beat him. Mr. Zeng cried out for help, and his family came to try to stop his attackers. He escaped in the melee.

Because they failed to arrest Mr. Zeng, the police threatened his family. They went to his home, smashed the door open, and ransacked it. They took Mr. Zeng's notebook computer, a desktop computer, a printer, cell phones, and other office materials and equipment. They also took a lot of important personal documents. Still not satisfied , they also towed away the family car and arrested Mr. Zeng's wife.

Mr. Zeng's family later learned that Luo Meiguang, head of the local Political and Legal Affairs Committee, was directly responsible for what happened to him and the family.

It's been almost a year since Mr. Zeng was forced to leave home to avoid further persecution. Meanwhile, Luo Meiguang instructed the police to monitor his relatives. They tapped their phone calls, intercepted their mail, and pursued Mr. Zeng on the Internet.

Family Factory Closes

With the head of the company forced to stay away, the family's confectionery factory could no longer continue its normal day-to-day operations.

His family was forced to sell the factory equipment at a loss and rent out the buildings, causing them a huge financial loss.

Mr. Zeng's Wife Illegally Detained, His Family Suffers

After their attempt to arrest Mr. Zeng failed, Luo Meiguang ordered the police to bring his wife in for interrogation. She was humiliated during the ordeal. Her family strongly protested her illegal arrest and mistreatment, and the police had to release her.

However, Luo Meiguang continued to fabricate charges against Mr. Zeng and threaten his family. Due to the intense pressure, Mr. Zeng's father's health deteriorated rapidly and his kidneys are failing. He now has to have dialysis.

The unrelenting persecution and harassment has also had an adverse impact on Mr. Zeng's children.

His eldest son, a high school student, doesn't feel like going to school anymore. He often tells people he's an orphan. Mr. Zeng's two young daughters, one is eight and the other six, witnessed their father being beaten and forced to leave home and were badly traumatized. They frequently wake up at night screaming and crying out for their father.

Mr. Zeng's wife has to look after the older members of the family and take care of the children while being subjected to constant interrogation and harassment by Luo Meiguang's subordinates. She cries all the time and is nearing a breakdown.
