Mr. Wang Chao and Ms. Chen Ping Subject to Illegal Trial

Jan. 30, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Shanghai, China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Wang Chao and Ms. Chen Ping are subject to illegal trial by Xuhui District Court in Shanghai.

Plans for the trial are based on accusations of practicing Falun Gong and distributing materials explaining the facts about Falun Gong.

To seek justice, both practitioners' family members hired attorneys to represent and defend them.

Mr. Wang Chao was arrested by officers from the Longhua Police Station at around 9:00 p.m. on September 26, 2013, after his visit to Ms. Chen's apartment.

Ms. Chen was arrested the next day and her home ransacked.

Officers from Xuhui District Police Department fabricated evidence and accused them of distributing Falun Gong-related materials.

Mr. Wang's family was very worried, as they lost contact with him after his arrest. When they discovered that he was being detained at the Xuhui District Detention Center, they traveled hundreds of miles from Baoding, Hebei Province to Shanghai to see him. However, their many requests were denied by the detention center.

Both Mr. Wang Chao and Ms. Chen Ping have been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) during the past few years.

When Mr. Wang returned to his brother's home in Hebei in May 2012, Shanghai police followed and arrested him. He was taken back to Shanghai and detained for 15 days.

Ms. Chen Ping was reported to police in July 2012 for practicing Falun Gong. She was arrested by officers from Changning Domestic Security Division and detained for 15 days. She was released after her family paid 50,000 yuan to the police.
